March for Demokracy flop

This bloody thing was right outside my apartment, so I wandered down and met up with about 30 other counter protesters and all I can say is poor Colin Craig, he blew $450 000 on this? He claimed he wanted 45 000 on the streets, there were a thin 2000 if he is lucky. My God, 2000 after blowing $450 000? I actually felt sorry for the poor anti-mmp, sensible sentencing lynch mobbers who want the legal right to belt their kids, it was like a birthday party for a kid no one likes that no one showed up to!
The event fell into farce when Hayley Westerna lookalike Yulia sang Dancing Queen with all the fake glee expressions of a ceroc dancer.
My favourite counter protest signs were...
ENOUGH IS NOT ENOUGH
DOWN WITH THIS SORT OF THING
HUH?
I'M WITH STUPID
SPANK ME
BRING BACK DANCING WITH THE STARS
BRIAN SPANKS HIS 700 SONS
I did an interview with TVNZ spoke my piece and left the March to wither away into obscurity, it was an utter, utter, utter failure. It seems most NZers actually understand what a non-binding referendum actually is, congratulations NZ, you didn't fall for the 'democracy' spin.
This was NOT a march for democracy, it was a march for demokracy. The propaganda model these people are using is more akin to the Republican and Fox News spawned Public Health protests in the states.
IF this was about democracy, why the hell don't they mention the word, 'Binding referendum' just once on their website?
This is not about binding referendums or the mechanics of how to legislate for a binding referendum, if it was it would actually mention binding referendums, but they don't. This is about dressing socially narrow talkhate radio knee jerks up as 'democracy', which is bullshit and someone needs to call them on that bullshit.
And today they were called on that.
Ouch, $450 000 blown on that? Colin equated him spending that sum of money to fighting the Nazi's, luckily for occupied France we didn't entrust the fight for democracy in Lt. Craig's hands.

In a related matter.. Hey Bomber, what do you think of this
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Tehe...i bet old colin is feeling pretty pathetic at the moment.....and so he should.
http://www.democracymum.co.nz disagrees and has the figures quoted by reporters over at her new blog
Oooooo, democracy mum says does she, I was there, it was 2000 if they were lucky and do tell democracy mum where were the 45 000? I see on TVNZ they are already selling it as a flop as well. Look democracy mum, you tried to spin this as democracy and now you are trying to spin the flop! It was an appalling turn out for $450 000, even if we pretend that 6000 were there, and that number is just bullshit, where were the other 39 000 marchers for democracy? Face it, you believed you're own hype and are now sadly trying to sell it as a success, accept it, the law isn't changing, you don't have this wide broad based support you pretended to have and the entire event was an underwhelming failure.
there is no link to your this comment big news
sorry democracy mum - TVNZ said at 6pm the number of protesters was 'several thousand'
You'd say it was a flop if there had been one hundred thousand, because you're on the Left and so hopelessly biased. Not a flop, there was a huge number. What a shame Tumeke hates democracy.
Oh. My. God. Is that the best you have?
You'd say it was a flop if there had been one hundred thousand,
BUT IT WASN'T A HUNDRED THOUSAND - you guys said you were aiming for 45 000, TVNZ says several thousand turned up, where were the other 43 000? It was a massive failure, you need to man up about that failure, accept that your narrow social views are not as mainstream as you pretended and that the entire fiasco was poorly understood and you seem to not grasp the concept of non-binding referendum.
because you're on the Left and so hopelessly biased.
LMAO - whether I am left or right, spending $450 000 and aiming for 45 000 at the march that only got "several thousand" is a joke and is outside my political bias I'm afraid. You seem to be in deep denial, I understand, it's still raw after all that hype and chest beating, the reality must be a heavy come down, so we'll forgive that silly claim shall we?
Not a flop, there was a huge number.
That's simply not true and you know it brave anonymous poster, you are sounding silly now.
What a shame Tumeke hates democracy.
Tumeke loves Democracy, I was there marching for democracy anon, I even did an interview with TVNZ there at the march, this last point is another silly comment isn't it? It's okay, have a sleep go for a big Sunday lunch after church and you'll feel much more focused on issues of actual importance come Monday I promise.
March for democracy indeed!
Bomber, try this
http://www.maxim.org.nz/files/pdf/a_government_for_the_people.pdf
GRIN - ummm, yes Big News, this would be the maxim institute who are the NZ far right Christian think tank formally headed by Bruce Logan? Now there's a man who could've taught Witi a thing or two about plagiarism
Just wat we need, more fundy far right christian justification to hit kids from the Maxim book burners.
Anonymous, that may be on the Maxim website but the link is not a speech from maxim. suggest you read it rather than judge...
Hey, let's argue over what a religious far right think tank wants another day, I'm far too busy trying to find the 43 000 other marchers who were supposed to have been at this massive march for democracy, we shouldn't allow smokescreen side issues from a far right christian think tank to obscure the fact that the march yesterday was a screaming failure. Let's focus on spending $450 000 for a mere 2000 marchers, the spin job to sell narrow socially conservative maxim institute-esk philosophy as broad based has failed, can't we feast on the irony rather than allow the very same conservative christian attempt to take another bite at the debate and quietly sweep this failure away?
"BRING BACK DANCING WITH THE STARS"
lol!
Meanwhile, a bunch of bikies riled up about an unfair ACC increase get three times the number of people turning up for their protest.
Ah, New Zealand -land of the wrong white crowd.
A big problem with the smacking referendum question is that it doesn’t give an accurate measure of support for the Act. Although many people believe the Act criminalises parents for smacking their children, many people believe that it doesn’t. Someone who answers no to the referendum question might answer yes to the following question:
Do you support the Crimes (Substituted Section 59) Amendment Act (2007)?
If the referendum was binding, it would give the government a mandate to do just about anything it wants, due to the ambiguity of the question asked. If it was binding, the government could:
•Do nothing and claim that the result supports the status quo.
•Bring back the old legislation.
•Draft some hideous new legislation that most people don’t want, and claim that it is line with the referendum result.
The protest wasn’t a march for democracy.
If 4-5000 people turn up to a protest its a failure
If 30 people turn-up to the counter protest then what is it?
If 4-5000 people turn up to a protest its a failure
If 30 people turn-up to the counter protest then what is it?
Well based on the amount of air time I was able to get during the TVNZ story to put the counter position across, pretty successful I'd say.
It's all about you isn't it Bomber?
Couldn't even get into three figures with your protest. It defines pathetic.
It's all about you isn't it Bomber?
Well anon you were the one who asked me to film the counter protest and put it on youtube, I went you one better and did an interview on TVNZ - oh and if you don't want me to mistake your anonymous post from others, have some balls and put your name to your opinion rather than hiding.
Couldn't even get into three figures with your protest. It defines pathetic.
LMAO - I wasn't the one who spent $450 000 and only got 2000 along brave anonymous poster
You keep going on about the 450K. I'd say it was another manifestation of murderous left wing envy.
Keep going on about 450K
Of course I do, why wouldn't I? He blew $450 000 and aimed at 50 000 protesters, pointing out he wasted that money and only got 2000 there is valid, why wouldn't it be?
And as for the murderous left wing envy, silly brave anonymous poster, this is murderous left wing envy
