It's not a gang patch officer, it's my old University logo

Letting Mob man walk 'a mistake'
A Mongrel Mob member arrested under Wanganui's gang patch ban bylaw has walked free from court, but a senior police officer admits that dropping the charge was a mistake At least one police staff member decided to withdraw the charge against Brett Beamsley, 45, after accepting his argument that a bulldog on his beanie was a Georgia University logo, and not Mongrel Mob insignia. Central area commander Superintendent Russell Gibson said he was disappointed by the decision, which was made without adequate consultation. "I am concerned that the decision will be used to bait us, which is the very behaviour that the legislation was brought in to curb. It is for that reason I want to make it very clear to all gang members and associates in Wanganui that if a similar situation arises it is highly likely we will proceed with a prosecution and allow that prosecution to be tested in a court of law."

Well it’s official, this gang patch law is a joke. You can’t throw people in prison for clothing they wear for crying out loud, we live in a developed democracy where those types of freedoms are part of the cultural infrastructure, granted to everyone, even da gangs.

That this gang member was able to bypass the law by claiming his patch was really the logo of Georgia University shows what a farce the law is, they’re not gang members Officer, their Georgia Uni alumnus.

Come on people, we got a rush of blood to the head when banning the patch thing, let’s take a breath, step back and admit it was a dumb idea and focus on less repugnant abuses of democracy to deal with alienated segments of society Micael Lhaws has decided must be removed.

the gang patch law is completely ridiculous. This surely cant be the best solution the geniuses in government can come up with? They were so quick to pompously admire their handiwork too; giving bloated government more power to enforce a dress code. Hey Laws.. You better come up with a better idea than this silver bullet, or next year you'll be standing in the dole line next to these Georgetown University alums.

Do you happen to have any suggestions then Bomber?

Unusually I am in full agreement with you on this one Bomber. The whole thing was a joke to begin with, and it illustrates the point that this intellectual gnat has managed to make a farce of it so quickly.
