$2m of police stab-vests in storage
About 2000 stab-resistant vests worth around $2 million are in storage, Police Minister Annette King says. Replying to a written question in Parliament from National police spokesman Chester Borrows, she also said they would be issued to recruits and other officers. But Mr Borrows said the vests were in storage "because they're too small ... Who do they think they're going to give them to?" The MP also said eyebrows were being raised because some non-sworn police staff had received vests before some sworn staff. How is incompetence this bad allowed to go unpunished, only 437 jackets have been issued while 2000 (because they are too small) are kept in storage. Remember all those demands for stab resistant jackets we were feed, and how important it was for our Police to be protected blah blah, well if it was true then, how come it isn’t true now – someone cocked up extraordinarily here and has wasted $2million, and I’m afraid Annette Kings answers are just not good enough to explain how and why it happened.
