So there I was, parked up in my car, minding my own business...

Something to go to tomorrow in Auckland. From Mana:
-----
MANA Leader and Tai Tokerau MP Hone Harawira will be appearing at the Auckland District Court, Albert St, Auckland, at 1pm on Thursday the 6th of December 2012 to enter a plea on the charges arising from his arrest in Glen Innes during protests against Housing New Zealand’s eviction of tenants and removal of state houses from the Glen Innes community.
-----

Reports say the cops smashed their way in through his car window to get to him. What a drama! I believe the charge is obstruction, failing to move a vehicle... or whatever... something minor. If the offence carries a max. penalty of more than two years imprisonment then he is in jeopardy of losing his seat, but these charges will be below that threshold. Hone may well defend himself - or at least at this hearing.

Some politicians think that making stage-managed photo ops, speeches to selected audiences and getting their minions to bang out press releases is activism, engagement and representation, and there there are others who 'walk the talk' and live what they espouse.
