All in on burqa debate as woman kicked off bus
A bus driver refusing entry to a woman in a burqa is a clear case of discrimination, the Race Relations Commissioner says. The Saudi Arabian student was left crying on an Auckland street when the bus driver refused to let her board because of her Muslim veil.
So a woman wearing a veil was kicked off a bus, not because the bus driver didn't like muslims, but because the driver had 'mask phobia'.
Seeing as NZ Bus don't seem to understand what the word DUE means I'm not surprised they have trouble with comprehending the word islamaphobia. Most dictionaries define due as an impending time frame, NZ Bus define Due as sometime this week. Their GPS message boards at bus stops in Auckland have more chance of predicting Jesus Christ's second coming than a bus on time.
The reason NZ Bus were so quick to spin this as mask phobia is because banning someone for riding on your bus for wearing a burqua would be about as culturally insensitive as renaming Chalie's orange juice 'Victor Charlie's' now it's been bought by Asahi.

It is a simple, uncomplicated matter, this thing called respect. It means treating women - whether they wear a burkha or bikini - with civility.
I don't like burkhas, but neither do I have to wear them.
I don't like tradesmen who wear short shorts, and who display an unpleasant amount of "builder's crack" when they squat or bend over. But I guess that's part of life.
Can we add tolerance on top of civility and respect?
I'd say this is a matter of safety. I for one wouldn't feel comfortable allowing someone into my place of work who I wasn't able to identify who they actually were. Especially someone who is a follower of a brutal and intolerant belief system.
If someone dressed in full KKK garb tried to enter your workspace would you be comfortable with that?

The Islamic belief system and the views of the KKK are very similar in nature. Both have hatred of the 'other' at their heart. Islam just hidess the hate behind the preface of it being a religion, although funnily enough members of the KKK try to make a similar claim that they are just defending Christian beliefs.

any and all religious bollocks need held up, examined and exposed to all and sundry.what you'll see in this instance is pair of nuts(2bus drivers) encased in a bunch of sad looking wrinkly skin(cavemen,babyboomers,etc.)surrounded by a great forest of hair(bus co's,corporate enterprises,etc).by attacking nz bus you've gone and barked up the wrong manuka,singeing a ball hair dont work, they just grow back.whats needed here is the old swift slipper to the crutch,believe it,cause it happened to me,i could'nt move or breathe totally terrifying,but most of all i learnt not to let that happen again.....at all cost.franky says.
