Why aren't we bombing KFC double down burgers?

Last month on TVNZ's Q+A, the Defense Minister Wayne Mapp justified NZ's continued occupation of Afghanistan by claiming 7 NZers had died in a decade because of Terrorism.

Let's get this straight. We are in Afghanistan because less than 1 NZ citizen has died per year for a decade? That's our threshold to invade and occupy another country?

Why aren't we bombing KFC for their new double down burger then?

If less than one NZ citizen dying over 10 years is justification to prop up a corrupt regime that has rigged two past elections, then the loss of nearly a million NZers over a decade due to heart disease should justify the public execuation of Colonel Sanders as a war criminal!

The revelations exposed in this months Metro Magazine about what our SAS have been really doing in Afghanistan however is no laughing matter. Despite John Key attempting to bully a journalist with the reputation of Jon Stephenson by claiming Jon was lying about details investigated within the article, (allegations Jon has denied and counters that the Defence Ministry is merely playing semantics by redefining the detention of prisoners as 'in the vicinity of SAS', I challenge any NZer to read the article and not conculde that we are in fact on an ongoing basis handing civilians over to be tortured by known torture units and that the in coming Govenor General, Jerry Mateparae misled Parliament about the legal loop hole he had found to escape the Geneva Convention and International law.

From the raid on Band E Timur where NZ SAS handed civilains over to be tortured should be a deep blight on the honour of our armed services. It is unacceptable that our Political and Military leaders have sent our forces to fight a war where the ethics are so low we support and empower regular torture.

The sadest thing about this despicable farce is that it is the SAS troops themselves who have brought these abuses to the attention of the public by agreeing to talk to Jon yet the war mongers amongst us dare attempt to distort the issue with flag blinded patriotism while screaming that we need to support the troops (I suspect most of those rednecks have not in fact read the article).

Hone Harawira called for NZ Troops to be pulled out of Afghanistan over the weekend, it is something every thinking NZer should demand. Propping up a corrupt regime while forcing our troops to hand over civilians to torture units under the guise of democracy and freedom is a bitter hypocrisy that should make every New Zealander ashamed.

Thank God Metro became relevant again.

So, the justification for the war in Afghanistan was Usama Bin Laden and the Talibans refusal to hand him
over without evidence. We have assassinated, neutralised or in Whakeoils words "double tapped" Usama bow, there isn't a credible Al-Qaeda force in Afghanistan and the Taliban have never committed an ac of outward shredding, they want ( somewhat brutally ) to govern Afghanistan. So when are we going to get out of there?

Or failure to do so will be justified by the rational that we can't let a brutal bunch like the Taliban run the place, what about the women! Proponents of this line of thinking then acknowledge that they support war and occupation in order to force their ideologies and beliefs on other sovereign countries, and so by extention give right to those who want to attack and force their ideologies on us.

And the discussion that doesn't occur is one of the borders of empire and the links between the US military and the uS corporations who are the true benefactor of this exercise.

My guess is Obama will want to claim a victory in Afghanistan prior to election season. The Pentagon won't support this unless their bases are allowed to remain and there is no victory without negotiation with the Taliban, who will never put down their arms while there are foreigners occupying their soil. Stalemate!

When we have finished bombing KFC can we take a look at why Greenpeace has just been stripped of its charity status for "being too political instead of educational"??? Looks like the French get the last laugh after all? Our High Court judges are a little, how do you say, "too politicale instead of the fair and justiece"???

Yet another glaring reason why this government needs to be dragged by the scruff of the next to the nearest institute for the criminally lacking of morals and conscience!

@ AAMC- a fair summary of the sad facts in Afghanistan. Here's the real golden goose statistics...

Check out:
World's largest defense budgets
World's largest arms exporters

This one reiterates the above stats:

Nuff said really. Total corruption protected by trillions of dollars of taxpayer stolen funds/debt. The last thing we need now is to be aligning ourselves more closely with the modern version of the Roman Empire, history repeats?

But is it the politicians fault that history repeats, or the human race as a whole? You could get pretty down about the whole fiasco, or take a much bigger picture to help get it all in perspective...

“Our sun formed 4.5 billion years ago, but it’s got 6 billion more before the fuel runs out,” Sir Martin Rees, the Astronomer Royal, told the audience seated among the busts and weathered books of the institution’s second-story library. “It won’t be humans who witness the sun’s demise: It will be entities as different from us as we are from a bug.”

It is those who pursue power and greed who ensure that History repeats.
