Hone racist Winston not

Goff rules out deal with Hone Harawira
Labour leader Phil Goff has ruled out a deal with Te Tai Tokerau MP Hone Harawira or any party he leads.

''I don't believe he would be a suitable coalition partner,'' Goff said.

He said Harawira was not reliable and had expressed some extreme policies that Goff found personally offensive.

Hmmm, so racism aimed at Asians is ok, racism aimed at white people unacceptable? Is Labour up to their old 'manage-the-red- necks-rather-than-challenge-the-rednecks' style of political management again? Yes and no. Labour are seizing the opportunity of the civil war now brewing between Hone and the Maori Party as an opportunity to win back the Maori electorates by a split between the two. The truce agreed to between the Maori Party and Hone which Hone now seems to want to renege on because of his seating arrangement in Parliament was aimed to protect Hone and the Maori Party from being outflanked by Labour.

Watch for Labour to ruthlessly exploit this civil war if it erupts between Hone and the MP.

As for Goff's assurance not to cut a deal with Hone, well that will be dependent on Winston managing to get over 5%, Hone will most likely win an extra seat and if NZ First's carefully crafted strategy to seduce National party protest vote runs up against Key's refusal to cut a deal with Winston, then it will be Goff singing a different tune.

Labour are stuffed - it's as if they don't want to get into power again - the same old bullshit, unimaginative thinking, ...tired non ideas by tired people who seem to be past their use by date. It's pathetic. The country is crying out for fresh vigorous ideas that will benefit everybody, but Labour seem hell bent on refusing to acknowledge this. Content to pick up the pieces after 2014, perhaps, after doing nothing.....

Hey Tumeke crew! as someone who finds himself standing beside Winston at the supermarket every now and then (he's vertically challenged by the way!) I wondered if I could shout out this slightly unrelated Tauranga movement. I'm trying to start a local wikileaks about a 3ha Tauranga park city council was gifted and now want to shaft for housing (who wants more parks when you can have more rates right?). They have been very secretive about the whole thing, every now and then they take a sign down, or fence off an entrance way, now they have axed the maintenance budget. I've started a couple of sites and spoken to the newpsaper. Some other supporters are creating a petition (500 signatures so far). What can we do next? Maybe invite Winston to the public meeting? ;-) Any advice or support you can offer is mucho appreciatiado!

On occasion I've debated with a young NZ First activist I know, and I don't know if it's party line, but he's very much of a Hyde-Brash "We're all NZers, past is past" attitute to indigenous affairs, and considers anything targeting Maori to be racist. If the rest of the party is like that, then I don't have high hopes.
