A New Left Wing Party
The Great Recession we are facing has barely begun and like the 1929 stock market crash, we have a unique economic event requiring a much wider democratic franchise than the spectrum currently enables. A new left wing party with Sue Bradford, Hone Harawira and Matt McCarten as the first three on the Party list with a focus on beneficiaries and industry wide minimum wage conditions could gain at least 3% of the vote. Beneficiaries represented 14% of the last vote, Sue Bradford's Alternative Welfare policy reform has put her in touch with many in the grassroots sector and attracting 3% of the Party vote isn't impossible, especially if Hone Harawira's electorate guarantees representation.

Bomber, whilst I would love an actual 'left' party, and a 'left' maori party - I think the chances of Hone joining Sue and Matt is zero. If he did - he would not maintain his seat IMO.
How likely is it that this not-yet-in-existence party will stop being merely a well-circulated rumour and actually become a fact? Or is it a question of 'if we say it enough it might make it happen'?
I fear more the looming spectre of Winston, the guest whom will not leave, and some controversial other vote puller like Laws joining his fray. Far more real and scary.
I was shocked to see beneficiaries being 14% of the the vote. Do beneficiaries vote? I would love to see a far left party that represents low income earners and those on benefits. The sick, the part time workers and those recently laid off I'm sure represent a large growing group of people who are getting really angry.
But that's all they do Bree, get angry - they don't actually do anything about it........
