Mana by-election

TV3 reportiing Kris Fa'afoi has won the seat by only 1,080 votes to Hekia Parata. This was closer than I had expected. Not sure how much of the slim margin was Matt's doing - haven't seen full results yet. The Nats will be stoked it didn't turn into another Mt Albert meltdown a la Melissa Lee. Labour will be relieved the win is over a thousand. And Matt McCarten is just happy to be alive. I wonder how the Greens went?

UPDATE | 10:30PM: Preliminary results from elections.org.nz show it was actually quite close and that if Matt had not done so poorly Mana would have gone blue. 54% turnout is not too bad for a by-election either. Main candidates:
LAB 10,397
NAT 9,317
GRN 1,493
Matt 816

Well thank fukn Christ that supercilious, born-to-rule, crim-related, other person with a name that;s as common as muck amongst Maori didn't come in.
I'm pleased to see Matt managed to send a message, and even more pleased the really dishonourable slef-obsessed, not-too-bright, Jonky-ass-licking alternative needs to get more "in touch" with her electorate.
Maybe when rellies stop "running" and "bashing" while (s)he pleads respectability, things might move in his/her direction

Seems as though more and more people are enjoying that change.
