AUNG SAN SUU KYI IS FREE!

So many blessings to pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi being free - hallelujah brothers and sisters - i NEVER thought i'd live to see her free. Tears of Joy today.

Burma releases pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi
The Burmese military authorities have released the pro-democracy leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, from house arrest.
Appearing outside her home in Rangoon, Ms Suu Kyi told thousands of jubilant supporters they had to "work in unison" to achieve their goals.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner has been detained for 15 of the past 21 years. It is not yet clear if any conditions have been placed on her release.

US President Barack Obama welcomed her release as "long overdue".

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said Ms Suu Kyi was an "inspiration", and called on Burma to free all its remaining political prisoners.

Ms Suu Kyi, 65, was freed after her latest period of house arrest expired and was not renewed by the military government.

I would have put you on the side of the junta - given your comments policy of censorship.

The Burmese are pretending to be a nice dictatorship by releasing her, well, they made sure she was released after the sham election and not before, anyway same old same old.

We of the "west" have no right to complain given that we support worse corrupt governments in Afghanistan and so on....

Hmmm hopefully this is the "the end of the beginning" sort of situation.

It's great news, but I don't share your absolute joy because I don't think her freedom is "real" at present.

The cynic in me questions the junta's motives for this.
