ACT'S hardline law and order spokesman, David Garrett, has confirmed he was convicted for assault after a brawl outside a Tongan bar left his jaw broken in two places when he was hit from behind by a top doctor.

When he isn’t making drunken homophobic comments comparing pedophilia to homosexuality on Eye to Eye, when he isn’t passing 3 strikes medieval raw meat policy that benefits the private prison industry, when he isn’t making oral sex jokes to women around the water cooler – ACT MP David Garret has admitted to being charged with assault in Tonga, but he insists he isn’t a get tough on crime hypocrite because he’s innocent.

Isn’t that what every criminal says, that they are innocent?

How did a fringe political party with questionable ties to the Sensible Sentencing Trust who hide their donations list so we don’t know if the private prison industry is funding them or not, get to the position of enacting hard right law and order policy? Tough on Crime Garrett admitting to an assault charge would be like Crusher Collins admitting to pulling burn outs, or our Merchant Banker PM bouncing a cheque or Murray McCully doing anything vaguely competent.

Garrett is a thug, his supporters are thugs and his knuckle dragging ‘victims rights' bullshit can now be contextualized for what it is, empty political posturing to maximize political power.
