TVNZ Breakfast propaganda for Paula Bennett at it's best

You've got to hand it to former National Party candidate Paul Henry, when it comes it propaganda for the Government there's no one better. From his long slow cuddles with John Key to this mornings wet kiss with Paula Bennett, there is no greater friend to the Government, he puts the state back into state broadcaster.

This morning was an incredibly well staged softening up of Paula Bennett's image in the wake of the outrageous Welfare Razor Gang lies put out this week to defend throwing Solo mothers, the mentally unwell, the ill and crippled back to work by cutting off their welfare.

The Welfare Razor Gang told NZ this week that our Welfare system would cost $50 billion - really? The vast majority of NZers stay on welfare for a year, the vast minority stay on the dole for a decade, yet the Welfare Razor Gang arrived at the $50 billion figure by claiming that if every person on welfare right now stayed on Welfare for their entire lives, as in no one got a job for the rest of their life, THEN and only then would it cost $50 billion.

What makes me so furious about the Welfare Razor Gang is that they are making up bullshit numbers to justify attacking the most vulnerable in NZ while John Key hands over tax cuts to those who are already rich. Forcing solo mothers, the mentally unwell, the sick and the crippled back to work based on bullshit numbers is an obscenity.

The National spin Drs, Crosby and Textor will have explained how Paula needs to soften up her image after it was revealed that the Welfare Razor Gangs numbers are voodoo math and are really just a way to bash bennies so Paula gets plopped onto the TVNZ Breakfast set this morning - NOT TO TALK ABOUT THE WELFARE REFORM RAZOR GANG - oh no, not a fucking word from her about the largest shake up of the welfare state we've seen since it's creation by her corporate ideological mates, Paula was on Breakfast getting a cuddle from Paul Henry over a new adoption plan to make Paula seem warmer and more caring.

This hamfisted attempt to make Paula look less like a bennie basher and more like a caring mum is so obvious it's embarrassing. The news producer of Breakfast who didn't allow one question about the largest shake up of welfare and allowed their set to be used by the Government as a propaganda campaign to soften Paula should feel deeply ashamed of themselves today.
