Government has no plan other than slash and burn

More public service cuts 'on the way'
Finance Minister Bill English has warned public servants that more belt-tightening and job losses are on the way and they cannot "wait out" the current round of cost cutting.

How's that 'change' feeling NZ? I know many of you weren't sure exactly what the 'change' was that you were voting for in 2008, but now it's clear, that 'change' was slash and burn the public service.

NZ should be borrowing MORE to spend on Public Service NOT LESS! We need a political leader with the confidence of their vision to borrow now and pay it back when the economy gets better - one of the things that the right wing in this country have to thank Cullen for is paying off the debt when times were good, times are now bad and we have to invest in people and social infrastructure because we know society is what suffers when these economic depressions bloom.

During the last major economic recession in NZ during the 80's, the suicide rate in NZ tripled, we know economic stress brings with it massive social stress, to pretend otherwise flies in the face of the facts.

This Government has no vision, has no plan other than the same failed neo-liberal agenda that got us into this mess in the first place, we should not be listening to the same right wing champions of free market dogma who argued that the recession was over last year, the Great recession is only beginning, even the right wing has to admit that now...

While you were sleeping: Heading for the exit
August 12 (BusinessDesk) – Stocks dropped as investors deployed the emergency chute and slid out of equity markets worldwide following the Federal Reserve’s downgrade of the U.S. economic recovery.

Wall St down on disappointing jobless news
Stocks in the US dropped for a third straight day as a worse-than-expected report on US jobless claims bolstered concern about the troubled labour market in the world's largest economy.

...apparently a consumer culture of SUV's, plasma TV's and cosmetic surgery all paid for on the credit card wasn't sustainable, who wulda thunk it?

We are experiencing a crises of capitalism in the exact same way the 1929 crash was a crises of capitalism, watching our right wing Government want to sell more failed free market dogma domestically as a response to the crises caused by these failed policies internationally is the very definition of madness.

Given the commanding lead of thrifty National in the polls over liv'in large Labour it obviously leads one to suspect that the voting public don't wish their children to be indebted a la Iceland and Greece.

The analogy just occurred to me; isn't it interesting that the right wing so vehemently oppose the idea of the hockey graph in relation to Global Warming, and yet they worship the belief in that same graph in relation to endless financial growth and consumption.

As interesting as the leftard calls for 'sustainability' but when the taxpayer asks for sustainable (lower) govnt spending where the fuck is restraint then?

Nice.... except I don't worship the idea of a graph but see the value in precaution in case such a lot of scientists turn out to be correct, it's a pity that a similar restraint isn't also exhibited by the right in light of the fact that their economic experiment has already proved to have failed. I have reason for caution, reality has influenced me.
Remember, the truth is subjective!
