They
get off because they are paranoid hicks? That's really a mitigating factor considered by judges in the provinces of NZ? Yes, yes it is...

A group of people - with a firearm - can roam the streets looking for trouble. Find - or really create - that trouble, and attack teenagers with batons and then use the firearm and that's all OK and not worthy of a conviction because... ?

Apart from the fact they are white businessmen I mean - apart from that very important fact that is considered a mitigating factor all by itself [the
Emery mitigation], apart from that, they get off because... once they have kicked off Fight Club Martinborough they have a right to "restore calm".
Yeah... Which is sort of an odd defence given that it was calm before they were there. Hmmm...
But it's OK because Boss Hogg and the good ole boys down at the Cosy club reckon they would have done the same thing themselves.

Martinborough goddamn.
From Paul Stevens via the
Hazard County Register.

And those group(s) know who they are.
Yeah, I think it's rolling a lot like this down Hazard County way:
...Uncle Cletus done wrote up the county po-lice manual on that. Tell 'em, boa —
Those groups(s) are easily i-dentified by their com-plete lack of being white, polite - I mean polite, lack of being po-lite, on account of lack of being po-lite. That's how we can i-dentify and in-timidate these group(s) of people who are not white - polite, who are not being po-lite. We ask the people so identified why they have a problem and then judging from any hostility or threats shown by the offenders firearms may be used against them. Now that's more'm some'less straight outta that manual. Pass'm that 'shine, son. C'monnow, c'mon. We practically po-lice here, boy: you gotta learn what Uncle Cletus gone done told you...Yeah...

I say Martinborough, goddam.
Y'all be banjo people.

"...some of whom I know well..."
you gotta have a chuckle at that
The $750 donation for justice, is just another example of our country's love affair with class inequality. Those with money can buy their freedom, and the Govt is proudly expanding that right.

Equality in New Zealand is a myth.
Perhaps the Sensible Sentencing Trust will be on the case....hang on, did you say rich, white, rednecks were the perpetrators and teenagers the victims?
ZAP!! POW!! KA-BOOM!!
Batman & Robin to the rescue.
Commissioner Gordon will always let the caped crusaders get away with it..
..as long as they're not Maori.
Really fuckin laughable.
I'm getting me a costume right now.
Up up & awaaay..
WHITE GANG-BANGERS ARMED AND ROAMIMG THE STREETS OF SMALLTOWN, NZ.
I thought the South Island had the monopoly on violent white hicks???
Martinborough is in the white ghetto part of the North Island, so it pretty much counts as the South... more hypocrisy from our court system. Bruce Emery again?
Sorry Timbo, you gave lots of quotes that one of these 'vigilantes' was lying on the ground, knocked unconscious by the gangstas and being kicked (isn't that what killed the Kura principal in the Bay of Plenty?), and you gave NO EVIDENCE that this was started by the 'vigilantes'.
Did you forget the guy knocked out in Tauranga while trying to save a drunk girl from being assaulted by her boyfriend - him and his drunk mates smacked the guy and his son and girlfriend.
And in all cases, cops nowhere to be seen.
The judge's hillbilly remarks are irrelevant.
Best bloody news so far. We need a few more, in fact a lot more of these patrols. If these people are good enough to get off their arses and do something for the betterment of the community then they should be applauded. If they just happened to stop a relative of yours being beaten up or robbed or your car being nicked I bet your attitude would be different.
I'd say we need less of the vigilante and more of the properly resourced, better trained police force (not one that constantly calls for tougher penalties and more and more useless laws though when they can't even use the ones already in place!).
Expecting one part time cop to police Martinborough and environs when they know the area is riddled with P is pretty damn insane.
Amazing though how all those once liberal-left move over, set up a vineyard or 3, and over 20 or so years shift further and further to the right. There's even the beginnings of a gated community there now. It just needs a bit of wrought iron and a card swipe on the entrance and bugger the cops - they can fend for the underclass outside

The problem here is you have used two completely different examples. Apples and pears.
The violence Tim has posted on, would not have happened if the vigilantes were sitting at home watching Coro St. They were the reason for the violence, There would be nothing to stop if they were minding their own business.
So the judges hill-billy remarks are relevant, because they caused the violence.

Is that so....thats good news to me. I'm sick of the corporate mother fuckers getting away with breaking the law, taking my money, cheating the tax system, bribing judges with donations, bribing MPs, farmers stealing water, farmer polluting, police brutality, Christchurch City Council....
Should I buy a gun tomorrow and bust in on some banks and businesses?
Beepee says is OK, so it must be OK.
(drunken teenagers are the lest of my concerns)
If the police are unable or unwilling to do their job and the govnt department who deal with at risk youth think they just need a hug have no real solutions then what do you think would happen?
People just don't go out and posse up because they're bored and there is fuck all on TV.
My guess would be that its in response to something like maybe um crime?
What with this liberal attitude to crime, lame policing and bizzare judgement we're sure to to see more of it.
I would love to know how you guys came up with the idea that there is anything remotely racial here. I am the Maori daughter of the businessman you guys are spewing sh*t about. He is married to my MAORI mother. And we aren't 'potatoes' either my "Tumeke" friend - "real" maori with strong ties to our iwi and marae.
And my brother in law (the one who discharged the gun) is a POLYNESIAN - Rarotongan to be precise - a pale one at that, but a polynesian nevertheless. So where is your "White man get away with this" angle now you ignorant bunch of morons?!
And the truly laughable thing is that you are basing all of this on what you've read/heard in the media - the media which is known for slanting things in ways in which it deems fit.
Get your facts straight so that next time you come off as just another dumb maori making the rest of us look bad. Cuz.
