How confused is Paula Bennett?

Bennett suffers from mistaken identity
Paula Bennett has been criticised after she lauded a professor she appointed to a welfare reform group - then confused him with a namesake with wildly opposing views.

The Social Development Minister last week said she had appointed Australian professor Peter Saunders to the Welfare Working Group.

Green Party MP Catherine Delahunty later told Parliament he was known to have extreme views, including one linking low average intelligence with low class.

Ms Bennett said she didn't agree with everything Professor Saunders said but he had something to offer. She suggested that MPs read his book Welfare to Work in Practice.

Yesterday in Parliament, Ms Delahunty pointed out that the book was in fact written by another Professor Peter Saunders - from the University of New South Wales.

"The differences are great between Peter Saunders of the University of New South Wales and the Peter Saunders who describes himself as a freelance consultant and independent author," Ms Delahunty said.

"One wants to reduce poverty and inequality, the other wants to increase poverty and inequality.

I am not sure which one [Ms Bennett] thinks she appointed as an adviser to the Welfare Working Group but I am guessing it is the freelance Peter Saunders."

Does Paula even realize that she has appointed an Islamaphobic fiction writer who believes poor people are genetically inferior? It is after all her own welfare slashing board she has created, which begs the question, how confused is Paula Bennett?

Paula is fresh from denying claims that she is bribing a solo mother into dropping a privacy complaint after Bennett illegally released the solo mothers personal details to the media for political point scoring (didn't TV3 do an appalling job of misrepresenting Tarsha Fuller's private emails by leaving off the 'lol' comments Tarsha made on the claims of money, effectively shutting TV3 out from future coverage once the deal is cut).

So did Paula Bennett suggest a little hush money to make this complaint go away, of course not! Paula Bennett is just hosting a new TV game show called, ‘Making Solo Mother Wishers come true'. Each week Paula visits a solo mother, makes their wish come true through a 3rd party underling who provides the Minister with denial about the deals details and the solo mother magically drops any privacy complaints they may have taken out against Paula.

you need to get out more. and the bribery has no substance whatsoever and has been dismissed as there is no evidence whatsoever. just another bennie who has been happy to accept the welfare and then seen an opportunity to grab some more. but you like that sort of mentality; the take take take and no giveth backeth. after all, that is a socialist mantra.

yawn. more hate speech from a predictably anonymous right-winger moralist. Great analysis of socialism there btw - any university political science department would be lucky to have you.

@ Edward...they probably would, except that they probably couldn't afford to give reasonable remuneration, and they'd expect him to provide his own office services and act as a counsellor all at the same time. But FEAR NOT! Stephen Joyce has just come up with a bright idea - so clever that noone should ever have cast nasturshums on his brilliance, no never! It's called "the Fee". All in the spirit of that user-pays philosophy that he didn't have to cope with during his time as a "bludger".
