Right wing hate speech blogs better source for mainstream media?

Fascinating isn't it folks? The graduate staffed, over worked and underfunded news rooms of NZ prefer to take bullshit rumours from right wing hate speech blogs rather than real news from left wing blogs. Let's put aside my posts on how possibly involved Mary English, Bill English and David Farrar were in the leaking of Don Brash's emails - let's focus on the explosive revelations No Right Turn has dug up on the inappropriate manner National appointed a human rights vandal and homophobic bigot Brian Neeson and other National Party cronies to the Human Rights Review Tribunal.
Exclusive: An appropriate process?
Firstly, it confirms that the cronies were appointed without any interview or formal process. They were "well known to Ministers" who were "satisfied as to their suitability for appointment". And that, apparently, was the end of the matter. There was no examination of qualifications beyond a standardised curriculum vitae form, and certainly no formal test of their ability to contribute meaningfully to the work of the Tribunal as recommended by its chair. They were "well known to Ministers", and so they were in. Whether this is a suitable appointments process for a quasi-constitutional body with power to overturn legislation such as the HRRT is left as an exercise for the reader.
To add insult to injury, the nomination of these cronies displaced more qualified candidates. Power had initially proposed the reappointment of eight existing, experienced members of the HRRT. Four of them were dumped to make room for these cronies. These included all three legal practitioners, who the chair had specifically requested be retained to provide a core of legal capability "to ensure continuity in the decision-making process of the Tribunal". Faced with a choice between an effective human rights body, and jobs for their mates, National chose the latter.
So the fact that National circumvented the normal interview process to stack the Human Rights Review Tribunal with homophobic bigots like Brian Neeson IS NOT NEWS! However David Farrar posts a blog about a ferry picking up Chris Carter to paint the situation out as some special treatment(when it is actually something that happens often when someone catches the wrong ferry to Devonport) THAT'S NEWS. Whaleoil goes a step further and claims Chris Carters mother (who has been dead for 17 years) is still using phone perks (something Cam now admits was a lie), all the while calling Chris Carter a gay pig - THAT'S NEWS! ‘Clint Heine and Friends’, an ACT Party hate speech site that has in the past photoshopped Helen Clarks face onto transexual porn and photoshopped her face onto a woman showing their vagina to Heather Simpson, claim from an ACT Party activist that Charles Chauvel tells a kid to be quiet on a plane flight -THAT'S NEWS!
Note - bullshit rumours spun by ACT party hate speech sites ARE NEWS
Exclusive investigations pointing out that National have bypassed normal standards to put homophobic bigots onto the Human Rights Review Tribunal - NOT NEWS.
Thank you mainstream media for reminding us why more and more people don't watch you.

According to you.
But for the sake of argument, lets say that they are switching off.
Where are they getting there news now?
Blog sites?
Well, three of the top four blog sites in NZ are right wing.
Online news sources?
Pretty mainstream, and therefore, in your eyes, right wing.
Unsubstantiated partisan "news outlets"?
Well thats just preaching to the converted.
Looks to me, the right wing blog sites are more popular, because there are more right wingers in NZ than left wingers.
The left blogs are their own worst enemy. They go and do a Mike Moore and overhype everything and put it in total emotional language and accordingly people turn off.
Its ironic cause generally the lefts argument is actually better, just over emotionally put.
"Looks to me, the right wing blog sites are more popular, because there are more right wingers in NZ than left wingers."
Interesting observation and given National's polling it seems to bear some truth. Bad news for the left in 2011 though. Maybe people don't like to be called fools and idiots by those who lost. Just say'in.

I think you will find audience numbers are very fractured and not nearly where they were as the networks scramble for the remaining lowest common denominator in a perpetual downward spiral.

The elite and politically active certainly fight it out on online within blogs, but the majority of those who seek out news would use other news sources like BBC, Al Jazeera or well know newspaper sites. A minority (including journalists) use blogs.
Well, three of the top four blog sites in NZ are right wing.
Of course, the online environment reflects the elites existing in the real world, but that leaves off the fact that the online community have to afford to participate leaving a large number of people's opinion not represented. To expand the conclusion as you do...

...seems aspirational.

Yes the right certainly have that patronizing we know best corner which they'll bitterly hold onto even when they are wrong simply because it hurts the ego...

...this post being a case in point.
Okay guys, you didn't vote blindly for Change last time without having a clue what the change was (because you didn't agree to a GST rise, mining on conservation land, legalizing whaling or selling Auckland's assets off to 'Council-Controlled Organizations righ?) - so you aren't fools or idiots, you made a wonderful decision last time. Great vote. Top stuff. High five to both of you. Need a hug while we're at it lads? Can we move on to the issues at hand being rammed through under this hard right economic policy as social policy Government? If you are both okay with that?
If that anonymous is suggesting that because there are more right wing blogs that are regularly accessed (and I presume he means by comparison with "left wing ones"), that constitutes some measurement of public attitudes, I think he might be in for a surprise.
Crap TV can also be "popular". Doesn't mean people consider it to be quality.
I often watch FOX news and Breakfast as do many of my contemporaries but only because its often interesting to see just how big a dick they make of themselves.
I've even checked out a Farrar occasionally which is an apparent contribution to his claim to popularity. As far as I can see, he still hasn't fessed up to being an absolute dickhead and disingenuous about his knowledge of "leaked emails" on the basis of being in charge of IT.
Tim.
Are you making a broad assumption that left wing blogs are quality written and right wing blogs are not?
That is purely subjective.
But ties in with the left wing = elitist meme.
As far as right wing blogs, and voting for that matter goes, the right wingers have it.
Anonymous - look at your first post, then read what I said again.
I'd suggest that it is you that is making a judgement based on quantity rather than quality
I'm right wing but I regularly read left wing blogs like the standard and tumeke to substantiate how correct my own views actually are in the face of their disconnect to reality.
But interestingly enough many left wing posters on the standard claim not to read kiwiblog so if they are telling the truth then there is an even greater rightward trend of 'the elite' due to kiwiblogs popularity and that the standards numbers are being boosted by people like me.

Thats right Tim.
It's a numbers game, and the numbers stack up on the side of the right wingers.
That was reflected in the election, which is about who votes for who, not the quality of each vote.
You, otoh, brought up a quality/quantity debate, which is purely subjective.
