National gag DOC

DOC officers told not to discuss mining proposal
Department of Conservation (DOC) staff have been told not to talk to lobby group Forest & Bird without permission in the wake of the information leaks relating to proposals for mining in national parks. The State Services Commission is investigating a leak to Forest & Bird of information about the Government's review into the mineral wealth of national parks land, currently protected under schedule four of the Crown Minerals Act. DOC spokesman Rory Newsam said "given the sensitivities", the new directive was to "protect staff". He said the ban related only to mining discussions.
The harsh nature of National's witch hunt shows that what was leaked was the real deal and the Government are desperate to shut this down now. Gagging DOC from talking to a conservative and esteemed Conservation group like Forest and Bird - who wulda thunk it?
John Key has made his first major blunder by describing a group as credible as Forest and Bird, hysterical.
The mining debate is spiraling out of control, yet Key holds on for dear life refusing to change course. The question has to be asked, 'how much money did the mining industry give to National in the last election'?

As a matter of public record, they did not donate $10,000 or more for the 2008 election, Bomber.
Either you are suggesting National is going to all this trouble for a tiny donation to their campaign, or you are suggesting criminal activity on their behalf. Which is it? And do you have proof? (No, of course not. Sorry I asked.)
PS. When it comes to conservation land "Hysterical" would seem a fairly mild way to describe Forest and Bird.
How is the God complex Ian? Still climate denying on Mac Dr?
hi Mr Mac
if you had any direct experience of NZ forests and in native species protection and recovery you might well replace 'hysteria' with the word passion. When you and your political masters start to dig up conservation land you might want to start using the word 'terrorist' to demean and marginalise those who oppose the rape of our land.
