Logo Idle

Super-city like Auckland needs super logo
Bouncing orange Jaffas, a capital A sinking in a puddle of rainwater or sails billowing with hot air – what best defines the essence of Auckland? Wellingtonians and anyone south of the Bombays now have an official opportunity to tell Auckland what they think of it. As Auckland prepares to become an amalgamated super-city by November this year, the bureaucrats in charge of the move have decided a new super logo is in order. However, with post-recessionary frugality, the Auckland Transition Agency has opted to avoid tendering to professional design firms and instead launched a competition for anyone to come up with a design. It is open to any New Zealander, nationwide. Entries will go to a panel of seven judges including fashionista Karen Walker, artist Dick Frizzell, arts doyen Hamish Keith and media commentator Bill Ralston.

With so many problems with the SuperCity, they want to gloss over it all with some bullshit logo Idol competition? Just whack a paint job on the leaky house of the Auckland Super City and it'll all be super sweet will it? How about this as the new Auckland SuperCity Logo?

Because we now hear that the directors of the Super City transport authority will do everything in secret, holding no public meetings or issue any agendas or minutes.

The Auckland City Council will not even be allowed to deal with any transport issue unless the Transport Authority TELLS THEM they are allowed to deal with them.

And the reason for the secrecy ladies and gentlemen? To allow the Toll industry to toll every possible new road and I predict that "Tolls are the only way" will be the new catch cry from this secret Transport Authority.

Looks like that change that was promised in the last election was really loose change necessary to pay the tolls on all our new roads.

Hang on....wasn't this post about a logo competition...why are we talking about toll roads...WTF???

You get off topic as quickly as Garth George!

Why not open the "competition" up to the public? "Supercity" residents should decide the final version chosen anyway.
