Here is why Rupert will fail

Rupert has been huffing and puffing about making Fox News behind a pay wall. GOOD! DO IT! MAKE THOSE MORONS PAY FOR THAT FOX NEWS SHIT!

I think if you are dumb enough to pay for Fox News, you should be allowed to pay for Fox News.

Here’s why Rupert won’t of course do it. By removing himself from Google he would lose public influence and it’s that public influence that gives him political power, if he turned it all over to BBC News or other ‘liberal media’ he’s going to lose his widespread influence.

He won’t risk that.

The reason the old media (newspapers, TV and Radio) ‘can’t’ make money from online advertising is because the old media generated a ‘ratings’ system that always grossly over inflated their audience numbers. This was good for the company who generates inflated audience numbers and it’s great for the media who get those over inflated audience numbers.

On line ratings are however brutally honest, and the come down from the inflated numbers to blunt on-line reality makes it nigh impossible for the broadcasting monoliths to make a profit, but it does open it up for smaller media companies not reliant on over blown audience numbers to begin with.
