United States of Torture

Parties split over 9/11 terrorist trials decision
WASHINGTON — Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, a Republican, says bringing those accused in the 11 September attacks to New York for trial would increase the security threat to the city and give radical Islamists a platform to propagate their ideology.

It’s been announced that international man of mystery Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is to be tried in New York for his role in the September 11 attacks. The American’s proudly declared that they would seek the death penalty with that weird joy only the American’s, China’s communist dictatorship and the military junta in Burma can seem to muster.

The case rests on a confession that Khalid Shiekh Mohammed gave the American’s and this is where the story gets disgusting.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed gave his confession after being tortured 183 times. Brothers. Sisters. Wahnou. European NZers, white mofos. It doesn’t matter where you sit on the political spectrum, I think we can all see can we not, putting a man on trial for his life, based on a confession given after being tortured 183 times is the sort of twisted sick shit that CIA client dictators pull. Folks, if you tortured me 183 times, I’d confess to being the fucking love child if Osama Bin Laden.

This is how we fight for freedom and democracy is it? Death penalty Kangaroo court trials where confession taken under torture is accepted testimony? If anyone else was pulling this shit, they would be rightfully denigrated, America does it under the guise of democracy and freedom and it’s okay. Folks, torturing someone 183 times to get a confession out of them doesn’t protect our freedom or democracy, it betrays and destroys our freedom and democracy. It’s these sorts of double standards that make people fly planes into buildings, it doesn’t protect us from them.

Hear hear....

But you know they ("they" = Anyone who thinks 183 episodes of torture will produce a legally useful, truthful result) don't want to accept that simple truth for moment...

Even suggesting such a thing makes anyone who speaks such simple truth a terrorist in their eyes.

...because they fear the truth more than anything.

But Democrats defended the decision of Attorney General Eric Holder to try the five in New York where more than 2,000 civilians were killed on 11 September.

3000!

(conspiracy theorist's)

"What the Obama administration is telling us loud and clear is that both in substance and reality the war on terror from their point of view is over," Giuliani said.

ONCE THEY HAVE EXECUTED THEM NO DOUBT!

I share the sentiment bomber, but I seriously doubt that the prosecution will be introducing KSM's 'confession'. It's stone cold inadmissible and would prolly end up in him getting off. The defnce on t'other hand will possibly make great play with it. Or he might just admit all in court, with pride, and demand that they end the farce and martyr him already fergawdsake.

There's plenty of evidence tying KSM to the deed, that's why he gets he fancy legal type trial. Other poor saps, who weren't so free and easy about getting their names in the paper back in the day, and were a bit less careless with the phones and the travel the banking, are stuck with the military tribunals and such like. "No court for you!" says the justice Nazi

Short story, if they are giving you a trial in a civvie court, they are as sure as sure is that they've got you bang to rights. If they're in doubt, it's military tribunals if you're lucky.

All that said, fuck the righties are a bunch of bedwetting, giver-inners to terrorists.

"oh noes, we is tooooo scaaaared to have trials, please let's just abandon all that we hold dear about our society on account of the scary scary terrists!! Oh Help mama, it's a terrist, quick let's burn our own village to save it"

fuckin wimps.

I agree that the torture resulting in a confession is really not a democratic feature and that's also, why this evidence will perhaps be called inadmissible during the trial. But according to the evidence I read about in the unclassified report concerning this case, it seems like, there could be enough proofs anyway. Elli

Hmmm, I'm sorry, I must not have made my point forcefully enough. They tortured him 183 times to extract a confession to be charged with the death penalty!

Never mind the fucking justifications, by acting in this manner, the American's have already lost the moral high ground! Trying to claim a confession he gave might not be attached to anyone of the 183 different torture sessions suggests you've missed my disgust. If we are taking rationalization of abhorrent behaviour 101, let's also point out the utter counter-productive fuck up this creates once in front of civil courts. They've risked their own case by their actions.

I understand the differences Obama has made to the system, I think he is probably as disgusted as many of us are, but sweet Jesus the level of barbarity America has been exposed showing here is utterly obscured by this nonsense claim the case will attract terrorism. If it does, it's because of shit like this!

I also think your hope that the Court won't be a show trail and will come up with any other verdict than guilty just seems obscenely optimistic. If he walked free there would be a Republican/Fox News inspired revolution in the streets and you all know it.

And as for this claim that the American's have the evidence, Jesus did we all forget fucking Iraq! Where the fuck are those weapons of mass fucking destruction folks?

Look, I am the first to put my hand up as the cynic of the group, but I'm pretty certain torture for freedom and democracy doesn't wash no matter how it's dressed up on a box with a hood over it's head wearing a black cloak holding electric wires armed out stretched.

PC - I'm glad you've stopped foaming about the yawningly evil nanny state and the politically correct stormtroopers of the left from the Helengrad dykeocracy to move onto dreary and eye-wateringly long posts about dry cladding. It's like War and Peace fell into a coma. The fixation you have on the fall of the Berlin Wall is a fascinating personal journey you've been kind enough to donate on-line to an entire generation of psychology students to pick over.

Bush should be the one on trial.

Seriously, how does a steel structure, the height of our sky tower's observation deck, that isn't hit by a plane manage to collapse in perfectly symmetrical fashion, undergoing free-fall acceleration as it does so?

Does that not make anyone else wonder?

« Bomber on the Electoral Finance BillA great premiere »Skyhawks for Sale
As The Government has proved incapable of selling our fleet of Skyhawks, despite seven years of trying, a helpful New Zealander is assisting by listing them on Trade Me.

As always the Q&A are amusing.

“one clapped out lady owner”
At least two of those words (individually) are inaccurate.

You want to flog some generationally obselete ground attack aircraft? Then you pay an African Defence Minister a 50% commission on the final price for facilitating a sale to his own govt……easy.

Unless they’ve been stored in an Aust desert, the airframes are corroded, avionics stuffed etc but you’ll need to get just one operating for the African sting.
Why are they being stored outside instead of in a hangar?

For $8 million dollars is that the best they can manage.I say its negligence, wrapping them in white plastic/teflon whatever.Leaving them outside is stupid in the rain and cold so why not rent a few bloody garages for gods sake.I only counted 11 as well not 14 so 3 are missing.

As for the L.A.V'S buying around a 100 and using 2 with indicators at Napier and 3 in Afghanistan, instead of the 20-30 they are going to swap or lend out is also dumb.Over $600 million from Phil Goff why did he buy them.Wouldn't a defence white paper before this purchase make more sense?

For over half a century now America has been pursuing a "grand imperial strategy" with the aim of staking out the entire globe and this dream of dominance has almost taken us to the edge of extinction.George W Bush is intensifying this process as the final frontier of imperial control has led to a choice between the prerogatives of power and a liveable Earth or planet as American rulers are now jeopardising the future of the species with a denial of Climate change.(E) Back cover of Hegemony or Survival by Noam Chomsky in the Sunday Star Times last weekend. The book read out by Chavez at the U.N.I added the bit about Climate Change. You try breathing in the big cities in the U.S.I can't.
