Ricardo Montalbán
The Mexican-American entertainment legend has died today. Ricardo Montalbán was dignified, suave and assured - with a spark of the mischievous. To his Anglophone audience he was the Latin - in looks and in temperament. Handsome and passionate, his leads were romantic at first; later on playing men of power and stature - not difficult being a consummate gentleman. His main roles will always be Mr Roarke (Fantasy Island's beneficent Dr Moreau with his lisping midget), and Khan (insolent and calculating nemesis - the equal to William Shatner's Kirk).
Ricardo Montalban You Tube clip of interview 2002, on acting: "I think I am better than what I am... it is a humbling experience."
He was a very classy man. Check out the 1975 Chrysler Cordoba and it's "soft corinthian leather":
Now, was it the '76 model that came with a matching soft corinthian leather briefcase? Did the '77 have a slide-out coke mirror in the central armrest? I hope they did.
[UPDATE:
He looks like a deranged transexual rock star in this clip: on Tubemeke in the sidebar.
Full Screen Mr Sulu.
