Gaza situation: Israel using chemical weapons in the camps.
The Times reporting:Israel is believed to be using controversial white phosphorus shells to screen its assault on the heavily populated Gaza Strip yesterday. The weapon, used by British and US forces in Iraq, can cause horrific burns but is not illegal if used as a smokescreen.
The smokescreen clause is exactly that - an implausible legal smokescreen.
The Geneva Treaty of 1980 stipulates that white phosphorus should not be used as a weapon of war in civilian areas, but there is no blanket ban under international law on its use as a smokescreen or for illumination. However, Charles Heyman, a military expert and former major in the British Army, said: “If white phosphorus was deliberately fired at a crowd of people someone would end up in The Hague. White phosphorus is also a terror weapon. The descending blobs of phosphorus will burn when in contact with skin.”
Right, you use white phosphorus for illumination... illumination in the middle of the day.
The Israeli military last night denied using phosphorus, but refused to say what had been deployed. “Israel uses munitions that are allowed for under international law,” said Captain Ishai David, spokesman for the Israel Defence Forces. “We are pressing ahead with the second stage of operations..."
Because that's what it's looked like watching it on TV these last two days. At first I thought they were the cluster bombs of the type they used on the Lebanon when they invaded that neighbour a couple of years ago. But there was not really much by way of explosion, they seemed to be some incendiary - but not as a flare or marker because that could be achieved better in other ways. I never really imagined it could be phosphorus - that they would be stupid enough to use that. And these warheads were exploding into residential areas in Gaza.On TV you can see the Jewish death squads using US military hardware to exterminate the democratic government of Gaza taking with them as many civilian casualties as they please. You can actually watch these war crimes as they are committed live on television. And we can see - in real-time in one frame - the Israeli ambassador excusing it or an American official encouraging it all while on the other frame - also in real-time - we can see the Israelis raining chemical weapons down on a refugee camp.
Phosphorus weapons cause chemical burns and the Red Cross and human rights groups say they should be treated as chemical weapons.

Neve Gordon, born 1965, is a Senior Lecturer and head of the Department of Politics and Government at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Situation : You have a whole lot of terrorists shooting at you and your men . They are firing from cover either in fox holes or trenches . It's difficult to hit them because when you return fire they just duck down . What do you do ?
Answer : You either lob white phos grenades , call in an airstrke which drops white phos bombs or get your artillery to fire air- bursting white phos munitions .
The Result : The white phos fragments rain down on them burning the shit out of them, compelling them to stand up /run away. Thier cover is of no use to them - now it is easy for you take them out :-)

I've reviewed the Zionist literature to which you link. Druze I can now believe it's possible, but the Bedouin Reconnaissance Battalion? Despite what she now says Israeli tennis star Shahar Peer was particularly keen to do her military training for Israel. She enjoyed it and even excelled in rifle marksmanship.
In an interview in the September 07 International Herald Tribune she referred to her Israeli army training saying "There was no question. All my friends are going and I wanted to be a part of it."
The paper commented that because there is a growing number of Israeli athletes and entertainers finding ways to evade army duties, Peer has become one of Israel's most popular figures because of her eagerness to do her training.
She excelled in rifle marksmanship "That was one of the best things in the basic training," she says in the interview "I really liked it. It was special and I learned a lot."
There are many young Israelis who refuse to serve in their military. Many of these “refuseniks” as they are called have spent time in jail for refusing to be part of the brutal Israeli reign of terror over the Palestinians.
There are also many courageous Jews around the world who have spoken out against their government’s brutal de-facto apartheid policies towards Palestinians living in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza. 10,000 marched yesterday in Israel calling for an end to the Gaza Massacre and the occupation of Palestinian land.
Because of her high profile in Israel Peer could help these peace efforts by speaking out against her government’s policies. By her silence however she is complicit with the regime.

All civilians living in Gaza are collectively guilty for Kassam attacks on Sderot, former Sephardi chief rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu has written in a letter to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Eliyahu ruled that there was absolutely no moral prohibition against the indiscriminate killing of civilians during a potential massive military offensive on Gaza aimed at stopping the rocket launchings.
