Greens attack Nats

Fitzsimons unrepentant over Key ambush
Green Party co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons is unapologetic after ambushing National leader John Key in a shopping mall, saying if the leaders of National and Labour won't go to her, she will go to them. Ms Fitzsimons gatecrashed Mr Key's walkabout at the Coastlands shopping mall in Paraparaumu yesterday to tackle him over statements by his MPs about climate change. It was the first ambush in what has been a tightly guarded campaign by both major parties. Details of leaders' daily movements have been carefully managed to avoid opponents getting advance notice.

And she should be unrepentant! Key has avoided the environment, he has MPs telling Farmers in meetings that National will dump all of it’s emission commitments, he has front benchers who don’t believe in global warming, he wants to give a cabinet position to Rodney Hide a Global Warming denier who claims C02 is a mis-understood nutrient for Christ’s sake and John Key originally was skeptical of global warming, not only should the Greens not apologize for ambushing the Nats, they should do it every day!

But yet the Greens dare not offend Labour (you know, the ones who have seen emmissions rise faster than what the US did under George W Bush)

"he wants to give a cabinet position to Rodney Hide a Global Warming denier who claims C02 is a mis-understood nutrient" So fucking what? Is he making Hide Minister for the Environment? So a global warming denier cannot be in Cabinet in a role that has nothing to do with the environment? Jesus Bomber you can be a total fascist at times

Hold on, hold on - Just like I wouldn't be comfortable with someone who believes the earth is flat or only 5000 years old holding cabinet power, I am equally not comfortable with someone who believes Global Warming is a Hoax holding cabinet power.

ps - And yes your point is grudgingly noted SDM, they are depressingly easy on Labour

I can't blame Key for putting the NZ economy ahead of fringe tree-hugging hippies.

Bomber and sdm: The Greens haven't been easy on Labour. Go catch up on Green press releases over the ETS.

Here is today's press release on Labour's Transport policy:

http://www.greens.org.nz/node/20289

“Despite Labour’s rhetoric of sustainability and some baby steps towards this, their newly released transport policy is business as usual: more funding for roads,” Green Party Co-Leader Jeanette Fitzsimons says.

“Labour’s main initiative on sustainability is...more cars. Electric cars.

“Electric cars can’t help ordinary New Zealanders for at least another twenty years. Away from Labour’s Jetson-like vision for the future, electric cars won’t solve the congestion in our cities or the quality of life in our suburbs, which are rapidly becoming more and more dominated by roads.

“The Green Party is not opposed to electric cars. We’re just concerned that they’re being used as a smokescreen to justify Labour’s massive road-building agenda.

..etc....

The problem is that so few of the Green press releases are covered, people get the IMPRESSION the Greens are soft on Labour.
