nz blogosphere Top 20

After coffee overdosing and monitor fatigue from the project team (ie. me) the full survey of the nz blogosphere rankings for July are within a few hours of release. I would rather be a little bit late - and correct, than on time and wrong. I had a late minute addition of Winston's blog to do as well, since he started blogging in July. (It sounds like him - the rambling, ranting, accusatory, paranoid writing - but the man has rather too much on his bauble platter to be really churning out that much material.)

I have now put the top ranked 20 in the sidebar.

The Standard has overtaken Whale Oil. Both have sent me their traffic stats. To pre-empt the inevitable: I have verified that both of them have rendered accurate accounts. I have also removed the max.100 cap on comments and posts as this was arbitrary and more of a reflection of my laziness in counting than it was for any methodologically sound reasoning (this did not affect the outcome between 3 & 4 however).

Apart from the bronze, the top dozen are rather static. The big movers seem to be the more right wing blogs that have picked up their traffic count and content output - the latter driving the former most likely: Keeping Stock, NZ Conservative and Home Paddock helping to displace left Labour blogs of Jordan Carter and Tony Milne.

Carter and Milne are nothing but a pair of ass rimmers whose sole qualification is that have attended workshops, internships and conferences where they learned perfected their trade so is it really any surprise that no one goes to their sites.

I'm hoping a politician who has some constructive ideas about this country like mike moore will start a blog up instead of greasy party apparanniks like miln and carter

Thanks for the time and effort put in to producing the list Tim. If you're ever in North Otago let me know and I'll shout for you - in the spirit of gratitude and not of course as a bribe.

Thanks for all your work on this Tim, I'm a bit surprised that we went down so much as all our stats seem to be going up, but I guess other people's must be going up by more! I'm glad to see homepaddock going up, I'm really enjoying Ele's stuff when I get time to read it (even though I don't often agree!)

Yes well, as I am a one man band and don't rely on the combined resources of the EPMU and Labour to write and research my posts it perhaps isn't surprising.

I wish I had the resources of state funded bloggers but I don't so there you go.

Could you please update my tagline for the next review please. I stopped using the trustafarian line nearly 12 months ago.

Gidday FailOil, Just for the record I think it's fucking hilarious that you've lost a place and I don't really give a shit what excuses you have. People get tired of muckraking and it really shows.

By the way, where have your advertisers gone buddy?

Anonymous Coward,

Tired of muck-raking huh, that'll be the end of the Standard then. The John Key eats babies bullshit is really getting old.

"People get tired of muckraking and it really shows."

Could be why national's still polling 55% notwithstanding secret tapes and 'hidden agendas'.

You lose again bud.

As Illuminated Tiger has left the same 'failoil' comment elsewhere perhaps he could point out where his blog is on the rankings?

What? You didn't know little Tiger had a blog?

Well yes he has, but no one reads it except for him and his smirking little friends (all 3 of them).

You see Tiger, when you parrot Labours spin lines to the letter and have no original insight and then top that off by being an arrogant, conceited nobody, well, its not surprising no one reads your pap.

As for your obvious envy of Mr Oil, that stands here for all to see.

Thanks for the support.

I am always amazed by the diversity of political opinion in the blogosphere - it's greatest strength.
