Officer Whitey cleared over death in custody

Alt Tv/Fleet FM Breakfast News
Officer Whitey cleared over death in custody
A jury has acquitted a Queensland police officer over the death of a man in custody on Palm Island. Senior Sergeant Chris Hurley had pleaded not guilty in the Townsville Supreme Court to one count each of manslaughter and assault over 36-year-old Mulrunji Doomadgee's death at the island watchhouse on November 19, 2004. The jury took just over three hours to deliver their not guilty verdict on both charges. Effectively another white police officer is cleared of another killing of another aborigine in Police custody, no real surprises then. Advance Australia Fair.

Australia, and in particular Queensland, are notorious for this sort of thing.

I've been told by a reliable source that there are people who are employed (by the government?) to take free alcohol to the Aboriginal camps in order to get them to drink and therefore become disorderly ... giving the cops an excuse to go in and arrest them. Rumour? Maybe - but sounds like something the bloody Ozzies would do.

A jury of 12 people, listening to the evidence presented, aquitted this policeman.

What evidence are you going on bomber?

I'm sorry, but a policeman being white, and the dead man being black, is not enough evidence to convict.
Likewise, your irrational hatred of police is not enough evidence to convict.
So bomber, what evidence do you have on this case that the jury did not?

Anyone who has been the victim of crime, in my case I am white and my attackers was black, knows the reality standards of proof are very high.

In my case the police couldn't even be bothered to take a procecution on the grounds that proving it was too hard and even if they did the offender wouldn't get anything much so in their view there was no point, just my hard luck I suppose.

Looking back maybe just as well, I had suffered enough without some prick of a defence lawyer abusing me again. On a more practical level I could not have afforded to take time off work to go to a trial, not a problem for the offender he was on a benefit so he would have got paid.

The 'justice' system works for lawyers (and to some extent offenders) but not for anyone else.

I see Bradley Murdoch (white) has another appeal today. If his smart alex lawyer (white) hadn't previously got him off raping a 12 year old (white) Peter Falconio (white) would still be alive today.

Know of a 19 year old, small build, white kid who is currently on remand for 'assaulting' a huge, Samoan security guard ... by nudging him with his elbow (no bruising, no marking, no pain...).

What a bloody waste of police and court time... Still the lawyers should make a bit of money.

Well bomber, if you have a better system than the one we presently have, let me know, but to say he is guilty without seeing the evidence presented, but making a broad assumption of guilt based on his profession, is not a system I want to live under.

Better 10 guilty men go free, than one innocent man is imprisoned.

Yawn. keep anon - Yeah cause those juries in apartheid south africa were fair weren't they anon? Screw it, you are right, all those bloody abos who die in Police custody are all just made of glass, and when they fall over they just shatter - it's genetics bro, an abo bone shatters way easier than a white persons bone. It's just a conicidence, and let's never question them!

oh and I had to giggle, making a broad assumption of guilt based on his profession, is not a system I want to live under. Yeah, I hate to break this to you, but you already live with that system quite comfortably, instead of profession the real world does it with skin colour.

Of course you are all right, those poor precious Australian cops, what with the most corrupt and racist Police Force in the western world are all innocent little lambs and the high rate of aboriginal deaths in police custody are all just coincidences. To say anything else is politically correct nonesense (advance australia fair)

Dude, were you the kinda guy who defended the South African regime with the same kind of fuzzy logic? Let me tell you what I know about the case, Mulrunji Doomadgee was arrested for swearing in public, SWEARING IN PUBLIC, and for this heinous crime against humanity, he was arrested, during his arrest there was a struggle, during that struggle the Police Officer hit Doomadgee so hard that his spleen was spliced in two - you got any iodea how hard you need to hit a person to cut a human organ in two? The fact that a jury in a country as racist as Australia let the white cop go is no cause for rejoicing the justice system you anonymous blogger, it is a symbol of how lost Australia has become.
