Israel doing what it does best, killing Palestinians (again)
I love the policy Israel has for anyone they suspect as a ‘terrorist’ (and seeing as that seems to be anyone not Jewish, it’s a pretty broad term), whenever a ‘terrorist’ fires a rocket at Israel for, oh I don’t know, try 4 decades of occupation, Israel responds with random group punishment and state sanctioned assassinations. Seeing as the reason the Palestinians are attacking Israel with these glorified sky rockets is because the Israelis are occupying their land, and have done so for 4 decades, one might venture that group punishment might not really solve the problem, but Israel has NEVER let reason get in the way of their eye for an eye Palestinian aid regime.

Six Palestinians have been killed in Israeli army raids in the West Bank and an air strike in the Gaza Strip, in the worst flare-up of violence in weeks.
Five of the dead were in Jenin in the West Bank, where gunfire was reported to be continuing into the night. Also late on Saturday, an Israeli missile struck a car in the Gaza Strip, killing a suspected militant. The strike came shortly after rockets were fired from Gaza into southern Israel, slightly injuring two people. Three Palestinian militants, two from al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and one from Islamic Jihad, were killed when Israeli undercover troops opened fire on their car in Jenin. A Palestinian policeman was also shot and killed by Israeli troops near Jenin, Palestinian witnesses said. The man, Mohammed Abed, was watching an Israeli arrest operation in the village of Kafr Dan from a roof when he was shot, Palestinian security forces said. The Israeli army said its soldiers had been under attack during the operation and had fired on a man armed with a rifle. Hours later, Israeli troops returned to the Jenin refugee camp, provoking a gun battle with local militants, Reuters news agency reported. Palestinian officials said a 17-year-old Palestinian girl had been shot dead by Israeli troops as she stood at a window in her house.

How is it their land? I always wondered about this aspect of the history. All through out my studies of ancient history (I majored in it) I never came across substantial evidence for this claim. So enlighten me. From my understanding, there's been numerous NOMADIC tribes who've settled in the region simultaneously and moved on. The area has always been dynamic in this respect. Therefore, no tribe can really make a claim to it considering there have been multiple settlements at any given period.
And let's say they did 'own' the land. Who are 'they'? What's Jewish? What's Hebrew? Who decides these definitions? I'm apparently Hebrew, but I'm not Jewish, so does that mean I have the right to arrive in Palestine and make my ancient historical claim to the land? Do I have the right to displace a Palestinian family and tell them "Oh, why am I taking your home away from you? Well, you see, my people lived here ohhhh around 3000 years ago, so you best be leaving now”. Which brings me to my other point: Does an ancient historical claim (assuming there's truth to it) make it morally right to take the land from a people who've lived there for centuries? Whose culture and identity is grounded in the land? There is NO justification for this.

Not all suicide bombers target civilians. But those that do- did it ever occur to you they're targeting civilian areas because they can't target the military because it's so heavily protected? Nor does suicide bombing occur nearly as often as the routine collective punishment that the IDF dishes out. So your understanding of collective punishment is they're targeting leaders? Ha. Like a ventriloquist dummy, you're repeating the IDF's manifesto.
Important to note, suicide bombing in a lot of cases is the act of an individual who has no association with Hamas or any other group. It's the act of the desperate and the suffering. The horrible conditions Palestinians must live in drives them to such measures. It's the continued humiliation and being treated like animals that's what fuels the motive. It's not by the hand of Hamas. But it's in Israel's best interest to blame Hamas, to continue its demonisation campaign.

Okay, if you're going to make the comparison between the colonisation of Palestine and NZ, at least make it a good one. When one criticises Israel, it's because of their stance against colonisation, apartheid and racism. That doesn't mean they're ignoring it's occurred here in NZ. Geez. However, the difference between NZ and Israel is, the former has already occurred, and now we need to make amends and address historical injustices collectively. Israel's occupation and oppression of the Palestinians is raw, and a modern version of what's occurred in the past. We sat back and let it happen in the past, but-as the Israelis like to say- “never again”.

NOW the CNN news was there and BBC, which showed a Palestinian women pleading on TV for her govt to give up the soldiers so the air strike will stop, another Palestinian man pull her away from the camera and said are you crazy, now the camera man cut away...
