AUSTRALIAN CLERIC SHOULD GO HOME!
The problem with all this talk about Sheik Feiz Mohammed ‘going home’ after his stupid comments regarding Jews and kids fighting for Islam is that Sheik Feiz Mohammed was born in Sydney. Free speech means we have to put up with idiots, that’s why we don’t shut down Newstalk ZB or Kiwiblog or anything Paul Henry says.
The real issue about an idiot like Sheik Feiz Mohammed who says such stupid things is that by banning him, you make him a martyr and that is the last thing you want to do in this situation – debate him openly in public and shame him out, show him up for the clown he is, don’t ban him. The problem is that Muslims have a genuine grievance against the West, and that grievance can get twisted by people like Sheik Feiz Mohammed, if we want to stop radicalism we a) deal with the grievances so that they can no longer provide fuel for radicalism and b) keep people like Sheik Feiz Mohammed accountable for the things they say by countering his arguments. Are we really saying in the West, that our long history of liberal progressive traditions with civil liberties and human rights at its core, are so fragile that a guy who says kids should fight and die for Islam and call Jews names can topple all that?
There is a better way to deal with Islamic radicalism than banning it, but it takes smarter leaders than the ones we seem to currently have.

SYDNEY - NSW Premier Morris Iemma has urged whatever action is necessary against controversial Sydney cleric Sheik Feiz Mohammed, including criminal charges or a ban from living in Australia. Australian born Sheik Mohammed, the leader of the Global Islamic Youth Centre in Liverpool, in Sydney's west, sparked outrage with a DVD urging young Muslims to become holy warriors and calling Jewish people pigs. The Australian Federal Police yesterday announced it was investigating whether the comments constituted a breach of sedition laws by inciting racial hatred or acts of terror.

Bomber I think you have lost the plot!
I am interested to know what are these "legitimate grievances" Islam has against the West.
I've got lots of 'legitimate grievances' against numerous NZ politicians and government salary men and women guess what - nobody gives a shit, I just have to live with it and survive as best I can.
I suspect there are many many thousands of completely innocent people who have as many grievances as me and many will have even worse injustice to live with.
On top of that we live with the total indifference, distain, contempt and lack of support from those who prefer terrorists, criminals and other ‘sexy’ bandwagons to hang their public bleeding hearts on.
I suspect if I tried to organise some ‘justice’ against the evil liars and abusers who make their living from destroying the decent my feet would not touch the ground on my way to Mt Eden – I also know that (as usual) nobody would give a damn.
Such is life.

I think rational people are the ones with legitimate grievances. All people who believe in religion are deluded and dangerous, they will not be happy until they have dragged us all back to the Dark Ages.
