No place for guns

I have nothing but praise for the Police cracking down on illegal guns coming into this country. There are few times I’m genuinely surprised by crime stories, but the news that up to 500 illegal guns have surfaced in NZ has to have a zero tolerance policy. Guns like these have only one role - kill people, quickly, we don’t need or want that ability in this country.

Policeman 'shocked' at gun haul
Police have seized hundreds of military-style firearms in raids on gun dealers and collectors.

They believe the powerful automatic and semi-automatic weapons were destined for gangs and other criminals.

Fifty-five gun dealers and collectors were raided in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay, Palmerston North, Wellington and Christchurch.

More than 500 weapons were confiscated.

Six people have been arrested on firearms charges and more arrests are expected. Charges relating to drugs have also been laid.

Some of the firearms were believed to have been imported illegally. Many appeared to have arrived after gun legislation was toughened in 1993.

One expert did let slip that most of the guns would most likely be reurned as the owners ver valid and had correct licenses. its like raiding your house and taking your 10 kilos of tobbacco to check if you are over 18. Sounds neat on paper but most guns will be returned.

Yes msth8d, but guns make it a hell of a lot easier. What the hell does the average person need a semi for but, as Bomber says, to kill someone?

To shoot more than 1 target rapidly?

2 of my AK47 have full auto and semi, which makes pig hunting all so much easier, thats the 4 four leg pigs to by the way.

but its about freedom of choice, isn't it Mark, if you dont want guns dont get them, it wont chance the fact that they are there?

Yet I'd rather have one and not need it, than to need one and not have it.

So I should be able to get a 50 cal no problem seeing it only fire one shot at a time, sweet.

Compenation for being hung like a hamster. That's also the reason these sad little Rambo-wannabees wear camouflage underpants.

Theres one, 2 cents worth whose going to add the rest for woppo's dollar.

why do we need hand guns in this country? hand guns are for killing people, you dont go hunting with a glock pistol now do ya, yet I dont see you crying about that shit.

Personally I think half of you bleaters should grow up, its not like we gun owners strap these weapons to our backs and run around the urban jungle like rambo. If you dont want guns, dont buy them simple.

But the light out of this tunnel, only came from a business owner, Why? it's because hes losing business, not because someone recently killed anyone with a semi auto weapon. If their worried about the licencing of these weapons or just how easy it is to get them, fix it.

We should stop bleating & grow up about guns? I don't think any1 here has treatd this incident with kid's gloves.

Howeva, running around the urban jungle like Rambo is a scary part of the story's point. This surfacing of 500 illegal guns had nothing 2 do with the great Kiwi hunting tradition, but of something much more sinister: gangs & criminal use.

I recall a couple of instances of your fellow gun owners doing just that, only they picked the mildly urban jungles of Aramoana and Raurimu to run amok in. Maybe that sort of thing is acceptable collateral damage to the right-to-bear-arms lunatic fringe.

500 guns is all shit. Almost 75% of those guns will be returned to their original owners once they have been confirmed as having the correct license. Thats right kiddies, the police make up figures to lie to you! Interesting to know that these are the people we keep panicing and giving more power to, similar to the germans around the '30's era.

Aramoana is the reason they made the gun laws harder in this country, because back then it was easier to import guns from the states, without the checks.

Like I said before if the police are to slack to check then whose fault is it? Don't tell me it’s the, AK47's fault... for finding its way into this country.

Seriously I do think the bleaters should grow up or at least, cry at the cops for not doing there job; I guess, if they spent more time on this stuff, instead of handing out tickets; it wouldn't be an issue, now would it.

Pounamu Pounamu; the surfacing of 500 illegal guns, tell how many of these where found at gang pads………………….. hmmmm how many?
So to get this right the avenge Joe, buys a $1600 to $2000 dollar weapon just so they can sell it to gang members? Come on, there must be some very kind people out there to donate that sort of hardware, but to gang members. Beside gang can get there own? But I am not surprised the pigs would say this shit They believe the powerful automatic and semi-automatic weapons were destined for gangs and other criminals. so now they have gone from pigs that allow the there dogs to attack people, to assaulting a female, to being so just and righteous, please you guys are more narrow than I thought.

Woppo; what was this suppose to mean? Maybe that sort of thing is acceptable collateral damage to the right-to-bear-arms lunatic fringe. I think you watch to much die harder movies bud, you should lay off the candy while blogging it seem to be lethal for you. This is about choice, if you don’t like it don't buy it, if the current law isn’t working, its because the people that are there to enforce it, are just to busy, beating up on people and writing traffic infringements.
