No place for guns
I have nothing but praise for the Police cracking down on illegal guns coming into this country. There are few times I’m genuinely surprised by crime stories, but the news that up to 500 illegal guns have surfaced in NZ has to have a zero tolerance policy. Guns like these have only one role - kill people, quickly, we don’t need or want that ability in this country.
Policeman 'shocked' at gun haul
Police have seized hundreds of military-style firearms in raids on gun dealers and collectors.
They believe the powerful automatic and semi-automatic weapons were destined for gangs and other criminals.
Fifty-five gun dealers and collectors were raided in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay, Palmerston North, Wellington and Christchurch.
More than 500 weapons were confiscated.
Six people have been arrested on firearms charges and more arrests are expected. Charges relating to drugs have also been laid.
Some of the firearms were believed to have been imported illegally. Many appeared to have arrived after gun legislation was toughened in 1993.

Yet I'd rather have one and not need it, than to need one and not have it.

Personally I think half of you bleaters should grow up, its not like we gun owners strap these weapons to our backs and run around the urban jungle like rambo. If you dont want guns, dont buy them simple.
But the light out of this tunnel, only came from a business owner, Why? it's because hes losing business, not because someone recently killed anyone with a semi auto weapon. If their worried about the licencing of these weapons or just how easy it is to get them, fix it.

Howeva, running around the urban jungle like Rambo is a scary part of the story's point. This surfacing of 500 illegal guns had nothing 2 do with the great Kiwi hunting tradition, but of something much more sinister: gangs & criminal use.

I recall a couple of instances of your fellow gun owners doing just that, only they picked the mildly urban jungles of Aramoana and Raurimu to run amok in. Maybe that sort of thing is acceptable collateral damage to the right-to-bear-arms lunatic fringe.

Aramoana is the reason they made the gun laws harder in this country, because back then it was easier to import guns from the states, without the checks.
Like I said before if the police are to slack to check then whose fault is it? Don't tell me it’s the, AK47's fault... for finding its way into this country.
Seriously I do think the bleaters should grow up or at least, cry at the cops for not doing there job; I guess, if they spent more time on this stuff, instead of handing out tickets; it wouldn't be an issue, now would it.

So to get this right the avenge Joe, buys a $1600 to $2000 dollar weapon just so they can sell it to gang members?
