Israel steals yet more land

What is it about white people and Israeli’s that seem to think it is okay to steal other peoples land. The problem of Palestine and Israeli occupation of Palestinian land is the cause celeb issue that creates most other tension within the Muslim world towards the West. If Israel wants peace, they have to stop stealing other peoples land, it really is as simple as that, and yet here is another news story showing Israel stealing MORE land. Israel doesn’t want peace, they want to ethnically cleanse Palestine of all Palestinians, keeping them in a mass check pointed prison complex called Gaza and the West Bank, terrorizing the people of Palestine so that they radicalize so much so that they vote in Hamas as a response to the oppression.

And for those who support Israel and who would howl about self defense against Palestinian glorified sky rockets I have this to say – the oppressor defines the nature of the struggle.

US raps West Bank settlement plan
The United States has criticised Israel's decision to approve the construction of a new Jewish settlement in the West Bank.
In a rare rebuke of its close ally, the State Department said such a construction would violate the peace plan known as the roadmap. Israel said 30 houses for former Gaza Strip settlers will be built in the Jordan Valley. The 2003 roadmap calls for a complete halt to all settlement activity. It marks the first time since 1992 that Israel has approved a new settlement, rather than expanding existing ones, Israeli settlement watchdog Peace Now said. Settlements in the occupied West Bank are illegal under international law, although Israel rejects this.

Actually, from other reports I've read today, the U.S. hasn't rebuked the Israeli's they have made a statement (through Comdom-lisa's office) that warns that any NEW settlements would be considered OUTSIDE of the "Road Map" accords. Of course they know full well that Israel can say that the new settlement is going to be on the site of a previously existing "Illegal" settlement that got abandoned during the early 80's. That way they can say it is on an existing one and house the 30 Zionist extremist families that have been making the most noise and then have a clear path for the new fence to go up. You know, the new prison fence around the West Bank and Gaza. That way they don't have to have as many check points to keep those pesky Palestinian's contained. Oi-vey, those labour costs are killing us!!!

Didn't realise Robert Mugabe or Sam Nujoma were 'white people' or 'Israelis'...

Bomber, the oppressor also defines the terms of negotiations and peace agreements, which is completely absurd. A thief does not cry out foul when he is forced to part with stolen possessions.

Te Oslo period pretty much provided the template for what we're witnessing now. So i'm far from surprised.

It's interesting what Israeli historian IIan Pappe recently said in an interview with grassroot journalist Christopher Brown about Israeli 'peace group' Peace Now:

"It may be a starker violation but the whole Israeli presence there is a violation of human rights and civil rights. What is needed is much more than this kind of criticism. The problem in Israel is between Peace Now [Avigdor] Lieberman, contrary to what people are saying, there isn't that much of an ideological distance. It's a tactical question of how best to insure a Jewish state with a vast demographic majority is not exclusive.

Lieberman says, lets take any territory we need and achieve that goal by downsizing the number of Arabs living there. Peace Now says: No, lets take less land and downsize the land rather than the population and then we can have the coveted exclusive supremacist state. Both positions are morally and politically wrong and unacceptable because at the end of the day you have 20 to 30 percent of Palestinians even in the smallest state that Peace Now covets and Peace Now is not willing to see them as equal citizens.

And people, even in Peace Now, would put the idea of a Jewish state above any other failure, democratic or liberal. So I think that even if I would have found in the government, or the administration people who want a cleaner mode of occupation, a more legitimized occupation, I would of course welcome it. But I'm warning we've been there before. These people have even been in government and they didn't make any change because the reason for the ongoing conflict between Israel/Palestine is not because Israel occupies parts of the West Bank and Gaza and is not willing to give them back. The reason we have the conflict is the Zionist ideology. This is where it starts and this is where it ends. As long as the vast majority of Jews in Israel subscribes this ideology in its present interpretation, I'm afraid we will not see peace and reconciliation coming to this land".

There are two issues here Anon

1) The Wall - you are right, since putting up the wall Israel has cut back on suicide bombings, there may even be a point to keeping the wall - BUT (and here is the but Anon) IF Israel wants to build a wall - IT HAS TO DO SO ON IT'S SIDE OF THE BORDER) This wall currently slices off 14% of Palestinian land and it is built entirely on the Palestinian side of the border - that is clear theft Anon of land that is not Israels - keep the wall if you are paranoid, but build the fucking thing on yor side of the border!

2) The checkpoints - There is NO REASON to have checkpoints within Palestine - they act as a daily ritualised humiliation of the Palestinian people. I've seen how the IDF teenagers treat the Palestinian people, pregnant woman giving birth, denied passing checkpoints to go to the hospital - Israel has to immediatly GET OUT OF LAND THAT IS NOT THEIR'S - it just doesn't get any simpler than that.

Fair enough bomber about building the wall on their side of the border...i agree with you on that point.

However given the "track record" of the palestinians I can't blame the Israelis keeping a close eye on the Palestinians, who knows that the next pregnant woman isnt a suicide bomber in disguise. Can't say i blame Israel for defending themselves, do they not have that right after what has happened to them throughout history? Also anyone who messes with 'em is an idiot.
