Our Place?

Te Papa's key tasks are to preserve and present the taonga of New Zealand's peoples and to interpret the country's heritage for national and international audiences. Hmmm, now can anyone tell me where the whole hosting military piss ups comes into the toanga bit?
Goff makes al Qaeda, Taleban jibe at peace protesters
Defence Minister Phil Goff has criticised protesters who staged a lively but peaceful demonstration at a defence industry conference in Wellington yesterday.
About 200 peace activists were outside the annual forum of the Defence Industry Association of New Zealand. Unlike last year when 19 people were arrested, there were no arrests this year.
In his speech at Te Papa Mr Goff took a swipe at the protesters, saying that at a conference this year they had labelled him and the Government "warmongers" for sending troops to Afghanistan.
"Perhaps they should reflect on what a world controlled by people who think like al Qaeda and the Taleban would look like."
Mr Goff used the forum to announce the third update of the Defence Long Term Development Plan, including a multimillion-dollar upgrade of the Devonport Naval Base.
“Perhaps Phil should reflect on who built those forces up in the first place and their rational for leaving the shit for the rest of the world to have to clean up”.

Hippy deadbeats.
In the words of the song "Get a haircut and get a real job..." Actually getting a job would probably be a start...
The guy is the photo looks like a stint in the military would do him some good :)
Students for Justice in Palestine wrote to Te Papa before the conference, urging them to reconsider, but to no avail. Apparently they're 'neutral' and rather avoid politics. This neutrality entails hosting conferences for murderers and war criminals, apparently.
Did anyone see the woman on Tv3 news last night who was clearly upset she couldn't get into the conference because of the successful blockade. She accused the protestors of not being peaceful because they weren't allowing her to get in. She wasn't exacrlt being violently prevented now was she. Her sarcasm was infuriating.
George, why do people like yourself assume if anyone expresses sympathy and show they care about issues that should matter to everyone- they must be dole bludgers and bums? Or is it because they've shunned the materialism and consumerism that dictate our very existence and appearance- instead, opting to focus their efforts on more important matters as oppose to this season's fashion ensemble.
Or is this just guilt rearing its ugly head? You can't be arsed caring, and so you must put down anyone who does to smother your own conscience- assuming you have one that is.
-Anti-Flag.
since when did this site become such a war porn freak site? Ooops, when 'our place' started hosting military piss ups

Poacher turned Gamekeeper?
No doubt they've 'shunned materialism' only to expect everyone else fund their deadbeat lifestyle...emo gear doesn't come cheap you know.
That guy in the photo needs a haircut and a shower!
Maybe the police earn their money - I wouldn't be to keen on a thing like that shouting in my face and threatening me - mmmmm not sure if that is the way to make a point.
Someone could suggest to the protester that violence is not the answer, mind you I would keep my distance, I spent a lot on money on my teeth and don't want to lose them.
well said anti-flag, but I get the feeling that a lot of the posters here are the people who prop up the man, and as such won't like anyone challenging the man.
Really don't think 'the man' would be to worried by this bunch of hippies and weirdos anna...maybe if the guy in the photo did a bit more gym work and smoked less weed he'd be more of a threat lol
...
I think anna is talking about people like you anon
