ELECTION DATE: 17 Sept. now even money
--------------UPDATE--------------
More rather desperate justifications from the NZ Herald's Audrey Young in this article trying to talk up her August 20 date as viable. Yesterday was the reasonable date (post-cabinet press conference) for any August 20 announcement, but it cannot be completely out of the question until next week.
Speculation about hordings surrounding Labour's Shore hack in this post from Mr Bhatnagar may be overdone as to devining the sacred date.
Having telephoned some of the usual venues for Labour election night fixtures I can confirm none have yet been booked at this time.

AL: That (Mt. Eden War Mem. Hall) was my very first call! It only has an answerphone at the moment because it is out of action for the next month or so due to refurbishment, so I don't know the status of that one (ie. the PM's).
i don't think the labour minions know when it is yet
helen might, but minions do not. and it is the minions who book the venues (although bloody good thinking!)
you may ( or may not) have noticed that I revised my date to September 17 some time ago
Dave
Dave: So noted. Apologies for the late revision.
AL: Dominion Rd was one of the topics in my submission to the Council. I told them if they intend to widen it they should make it 10 or 20 meteres and not just 2m as planned because it was so typically short-sighted of them. Some Councillors then moved uneasily in their chairs and asked who would pay for it all... Well, I said, If you plan to widen it anyway it will cost money and this is a long term project not just a two-year intersection realignment. Anyway, seeing as how the hall is more than 2m back I doubt it will come to any grief soon.
