Bush the environmentalist? Yeah right

Bush names marine monuments
A vast swathe of the Pacific - including an area near New Zealand territory - has just been declared part of a United States national maritime monument.
President George Bush, in the dying days of his administration, made the startling declaration by saying in the White House today "we're fixing to do some fabulous policy". Seeking to protect pristine coral reefs, rare fish and underwater volcanoes, Bush declared 505,000 square kilometres of Pacific to be monuments and off-limits to exploration.
Bush has done this before by creating a massive marine reserve near Hawaii and is pointing to these marines as some type of deflection his appalling record on the environment actually is. What is the point of creating marine reserves with the unchecked pollution created by our system of insatiable consumer capitalism choking our atmosphere with so much C02 that the oceans are having to suck it up and in the process are becoming increasingly acidic and in turn bleaching coral reefs dead. Creating a marine sanctuary on a planet as environmentally sick as ours by a man who has flown in the face of settled climate change science to look after his pollution spewing corporate mates, is simply a new reason to add as to why the Bush Administration will be viewed as the worst in American history. Only 11 more days of his horrid little tyranny.
