Porn cuts into TV sports programme
Sky has apologised for a technical glitch which caused pornography to screen on thousands of televisions yesterday. Toyota Grassroots Rugby was showcasing its usual fare of premier and senior club rugby on Prime TV yesterday when adult channel Spice:xcess interrupted. About four minutes of the hour-long sports show was replaced by Spice at about 3pm for digital subscribers in Auckland and Northland.
Toyota Grass roots Rugby could be a porno I suppose if you took the wording literally, now when Alt Tv accidentally broadcast texts that had offensive words in it, the Broadcasting Standards Authority took us off air in an unprecedented move, we claimed at the time that they were only doing that to us because we were small and couldn’t fight back, but now we have Prime TV who screened 4 minutes of porn on a Sunday Afternoon, will the BSA take on a multi-million dollar corporation and fine them and force them off air, because if they don’t they are fucking hypocrites.

I don't drive, don't own a car and try to walk everywhere I can, or use public transport. I swim each day and watch what I eat, my concerns at the environmental degradation of the planet are as valid as anyones.

Nothing should stop you from first complaining to Sky TV and when their answer doesn't satisfy you appeal to the BSA. That's what happens in all cases before the BSA can rule, fine or dismiss. The dirty texts issue on Alt TV went through the appropriate channels and led to that outcome. The same can happen with Prime but you need to follow the rules. No hypocrisy is involved as the BSA can't take independent action.

I think the two can be effected, but the context is important, Alt Tv is a digital station which can pin block adult content and isn't free to air which allows us to play very different content to free to air channels.

ReplyDeleteA bit of free advice for Bomber, I know he knows everything but that’s only about what other people should do not himself, start running, try 2ks to start with then build up from there, someone like him who has conditioned his body to be fat will probably need to exercise (not a stroll or gentle swim, the key is INTENSITY) for about 5-6 hours a week, every week for the rest of his life. The facts aren't quite as comforting as the myths are they. I am sure there are many people who would be happy to talk about your obesity to your face but in my experince there is no point unless the person is ready to get real about it, most obese people are in denial and don't want facts, the get angry and violenct when faced with facts.
If you were the fat kid at school that was hard and your parents let you down, another thing that is hard for people to confront.
As for working with children, ideally people who work with children should model healthy lifestles - you don't. In these times of childhood obesity I don't think you are the best choice children model and reflect what they see, equally I don't think smokers, porn promoters or apologists, religuous nuts, other substance abusers are people I would want around my kids and it worries me when I see them around other peoples.

Obese people get up ever day and continure the behaviour that got them into that position in the first place and now keeps them there - it just seems a weird choice to me. If you have always been fat its not something that crept up on you during a bad patch you know about your problem and have done for a very long time yet still no action. I don't get it especially when information is so readilty avalable and its so simple to do.

Thank you for your fake concern, but I'm fine thank you very much. I'm concerned that you spend so much time concerned about my weight though, perhaps you need to fixate on something else? ReplyDeleteI do not think obese people are a good model to work with children as I said I do not think smokers are appropriate people to work with children either. Children only know what they see if they are exposed to people who are fat and unhealthy they are far more likely to follow that path – I think smoking stats prove that don’t they, children of smokers are far more likely to become smokers, even if their parents are non-smokers if they are exposed to other adult figures who smoke they are more likely to smoke – same with fat people, its not the fat that’s hereditary it’s the lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteSubstance abusers of any kind is not something that it will help children to be around - if you had children would you rather they had people around them who make healthy sensible choices or are smokers over eaters OK with you.
I don't care if adult people (including you, I am somewhat indifferent to people I do not care for personally) choose to kill themselves either with drugs, drinks, tobacco or food however I think children need protection. I don’t care much if people drink and drive and kill themselves however I care if they hit other people and I also care about the cost to society of their choice.
The thing about this is you can CHOOSE to change it, surely even you can see that the healthier you present yourself the better for you and those who are exposed to you.

Those with direct access to children (primarly parents of course) but also teachers, youth/child group leaders etc, have far more influence on children than organisations like McDonalds.
He blames them because he refuses to take any responsilty for his own behaviour and bad example.
Not sure if 'hypocrite' is the correct term but there seems to be some of that, I think he just finds it easier to blame everthing and everyone but himself, he is blameless in his own eyes, he wants everyone to change except himself.

There are lot's of reasons for being overweight - not all are things you control.
(I don't know Bombers medical history so I have no idea if he IS actually fat or obese, nor do I know any reason that may explain that - be it medical or lifestyle choice).
