Telecom criticised for faking it (feel that Blogger rage)

Telecom criticised for faking it
Telecom is denying claims it is deceiving people in its latest TV advertising campaign. The phone giant is using a bogus company to endorse its products. Telecom's latest ad shows the Telecom services that company McCallum and Partners apparently uses, but the issue is there is no such company. "It is misleading. One would assume that this is a compnay that does quite a lot of business and is real happy with Telecom and evidently they're not," says Tom Agee, Auckland University Marketing lecturer.

This is similar to the side air bag advert with the woman who is pretending to be mentally ill, adverts are corporate lies at worst or corporate manipulation at best, if they want us to regard them any more warmly, just don’t lie to us, Telecom are clearly pretending that this is a Friday drinks at some business and they are doing a Youtube clip, when really it’s just a bunch of actors pretending to love telecom, it seems they didn’t pay them enough to be convincing, well spotted by the Blogging community.

  1. It's just a fucking ad!
Hey bomber, that gorilla playing drums. Are you sitting down, he's fake too!!

I just can't believe they are showing adverts that are not real.
Nothing to blog about huh bomber.

Oh, and well spotted blogger community?
Sheeiit, my ten year old daughter spotted it was fake straight up.

Perhaps you should be giving big ups to the 10 year olds on myspace.

  3. It's also a bit like those ads that Labour ran a few weeks back as part of the gigantic waste of taxpayers money "what the budget means for you" ad campaign. You know the one with the lovely multi cultural kiwi family looking all jolly a Labours latest election bribe. Only they turned out to be Americans.

Funny, I don't remember such sneering resentment from you then Bomber, is it okay when Labour fabricates shit for their ad campaigns?

And the tits aren't even real either.

  6. I wondered who were those clowns who love telecom.

Tha gorilla is far more believeable, and enjoyable.

The worst ads on tv are the ones for the banks. Pretending that their banking staff actually give a shit.

She is not pretending to be mentally ill, she is acting (ask Olly Driver about it) the part of a crash victim with a brain injury. Thats quite a difference.

adverts are corporate lies at worst or corporate manipulation at best,

Dare you to say that to your Alt Tv advertisers. Oh the irony.

  8. Pointing out Bomber's hypocrisy and faux outrage hardly makes one a loving shill for Telecom. Unless you are one of those fucking idiots who think criticising America is the same as supporting terrorism.
How does writing a blog about Telecom pretending to do a youtube advert make me a hypocrite?

Only in the eyes of the eactor who did the advert or the producer of the advert, or the client of that advert.

  9. Telecom made an ad in the style of a YouTube video. Lotto made an ad in the style of a American cop show. At no point did either puport to be anything other than an advert.

I'm no fan of Telecom, but I fail to see why they should be flogged for using a stylistic theme in their advertising?

Watch the ad, its blatently obvious those people are professional actors and dancers. What a non issue.

No that is an absolute lie, I was one of the first to say that Tama Iti and his merry militita WERE NOT TERRORISTS, and that the Police reaction in land as steeped in grievance as Tuhoe was unacceptable, what I did say was that activists SHOULD NEVER pick up guns, and that the Police had a right to be concerned with what was being said. Let's not twist my word anon.
