"focus groups showing up a “potential” feeling among participants that Helen Clark was “out of touch” and a busy-body in people’s private lives."
Well, that has certainly been capitalised upon by National - just look at the backlash to the anti smacking bill and todays truckie protests (of which the media coverage has also been decidedly one sided).
Perhaps the typical NZ voter doesn't 'vote with their heads' because they intuitively know that National and Labour are both centrist based on policy presented so far, and largely indistinguishable.
The typical NZ voter has no political knowledge whatsoever and knows far more about the All Blacks than what's happening in their country.
Most NZ voters dislike Helen Clark because of her looks rather than anything political. That's why they're more likely to vote for John Key and his pedo-smile.

ReplyDeletethis kind of attitude demonstrates why labour will lose - because it has a 'we know best' contempt.
Keep up the good work and blame the bad stuff on everyone else except labour to keep national sleep walking to victory.
