'Let parents choose babies' sex'
Parents should have the right to choose the sex of their unborn babies, the Government will be told today. The Bioethics Council, a ministerial advisory committee, will give it a report which says individuals are in the best position to make decisions about sex selection. The report - titled Who Gets Born? - concludes that the sex of embryos created outside the mother's body under programmes such as IVF (in vitro fertilisation) should be chosen by parents. That would mean mothers and fathers would be able to gender-balance their families - something critics have attacked as "designer babies".
What dumb arsed idea is this? The reason we leave gender to the natural process is so that cultural demands don’t start valuing one gender over the other as we see in countries like India or the worst case scenario, China which in rural areas has a massive imbalance of gender. Letting parents choose the babies sex is NOT good to the totality of gender balance, we already allow genetic disease as decider, by focusing on the parent as a consumer who demands full choice we have missed the much more important and wider issues, and thus get a valueless decision who’s attempt is to grow market interest regardless of the long term damage to the total environment. It’s this exact kind of short sighted gain in the present pay massively in the near future mindset that makes global warming so hard to tackle.
You been to India or China bomber?
ReplyDeleteThose daughters that are born unwanted get murdered.
Parents then get the child they want.
Personally I would prefer the parents to choose the sex of their own child, than to kill the ones they don't want.
So now you are on record for saying parents don't have the right to choose which sex child they want.
How about the rights of women to have an abortion?
Or is ok to choose when to have a child, but not what child to have.
"we already allow genetic disease as decider,"
ReplyDeleteHang on. Are you saying that parents shouldn't have the right to screen their unborn child for serious life-long diseases?
That puts you squarely on the side of the right-to-lifers and extreme Chrisitan fundo's.
"It’s this exact kind of short sighted gain in the present pay massively in the near future mindset that makes global warming so hard to tackle."
WTF??
How does parents choosing the sex of their unborn child relate to global warming?
Do more males in the world cause global warming?
You are hell bent on discussing climate change that you are attempting to link it to every human activity.
Insane.
FFS let the parents choose! Better a wanted child than an unwanted child. Always.
ReplyDeleteThis will really piss off Kenn Orr.
ReplyDeleteIf you are not prepared to accept and parent both a boy or a girl, you should not be a parent. Therefore you should not get pregnant or get anyone else pregnant.
ReplyDeleteEasy. This will really piss off the feminazi.
Dave, you can lecture all you like but it won't stop people having babies, it's what people do. So the question you should be asking yourself is, do you want these people that you don't think deserve to reproduce to have children they want or children they don't want? I think that if they could choose the genders they wanted then at least they might not have quite as many. But I can see the merit of denying them that out of spite. Let's all join hands and say should not should not should not as much as we can, it'll keep us happy even if it doesn't achieve shit.
ReplyDeleteIn actual fact, people who have the need to resort to scientific methods to have children very rarely care what the sex of the baby is going to be. And if they did, well let's face it, they are dickheads. Better to have one girl/boy than to have no children at all ... what do you reckon?
ReplyDeleteI will never forget the day my son was born and his 'father' visited me in hospital (after running away when I was 5 months pregnant) and he said to me (get this...) "oh it's a shame you didn't have a girl, you would have had so much more in common". I nearly hit the fucker!!!
I love my son (and despite what helensmellyarmpitsfuckknuckle has to say) he SO loves his mum. I wouldn't change him for anything in the world.
And I did smack him a few times... funnily enough, due to the love and honesty we share he has never beaten anyone to death, never been imprisoned for tagging, has a fantastic job (5 promotions in 12 months!!!).
Fuck you helensmellingthingbitchface.
