Cameron Slater 1 - Labour Party 0

You know how much it pains me to blog this, especially when you consider the sheer animosity I feel towards a far right hate merchant like Slater, but sweet Zombie Jesus Labour don't make it easy for themselves do they?

Slater's blog critiquing Labour's slack social media standards is devastating when seen in the light of Labour's stated desires to be a 21st Century online Political Party.

The Labour leadership see blogs and social media now as hostile environments they can no longer have a one way discussion through making them a source of scorn...

“The blogs dont get to vote in the labour party, so we dont pay much consideration to it” - Andrew Little.

“Blogs, who cares about blogs” - Clayton Cosgrove

"I don't read blogs" they are "nonsense" - David Shearer.

The madness of generating a civil war with The Standard is such a self mutilation you genuinely wonder who the hell is running Labour's strategy. My guess is that it must be Steven Joyce. I'm serious. I'm sure Steven sneaks into the Labour Caucus meeting where Shearer doesn't note that he's actually a Minister of the Crown from another political Party and Steven's only advice throughout the meeting is "You guys should attack the Standard more'.

The right get how much influence the blogs have on the underfunded news rooms of NZ - Labour and the left seem utterly unable to connect the two together. If I was running Labour's strategy I would be on the phone once a week with every major left wing blogger in the country. The left are never going to get fair coverage in the mainstream media, so go and influence the one source the mainstream media are addicted to - the blogs. Why Labour don't reach out to this resource says more about Labour's lack of an actual left wing policy platform to promote than anything else does.

Meanwhile 270 000 kids are in poverty, 7.3% are unemployed and we have the highest level of inequality ever recorded.

Wake me when Labour have stopped ripping its own throat out.

That of course is your opinion. You support Cunlife ahead of Shearer, and that sort of colours your opinion. In the final analysis it is the voters who decide, not caucus.

Have you been drinking Kiwi Riverman? Who I support has nothing to do with validity of Slater's criticism or the pure stupidity of Labour waging war on the blogs.

How many times did anyone from the Obama Administration attack the Huffington Post during last years election KR?

Riverman posted almost exactly the same comment over at Bowalley Road on the 'The Greens Reach Out To Reach Up' thread. Evidently, criticism of the Labour Party hierarchy's obvious inability to allow greater participation in its internal decision making processes translates as support for Cunliffe.

I'm a member of the Mana movement, so the Labour Party ructions are little more than an example of how not to engage with your own active base. I am truly surprised, considering their absolute hatred of blogosphere dissent that Labour still manage to poll over 30%.

Once again you are on the mark Bomber. Many Labour people have been patting themselves on the back for the positive press that Shearer's speech (on Sunday) has been getting???? Well Im buggered if I know where they have been hearing/reading that...the only thing I have heard is John Key raving about how Shearer/Labour got their costings on Auckland housing wrong. You are right, MSM will never provide Labour with positive press, so they have to use Social media.I mentioned on The Standard last week what a fucken disgrace the Labour website is. Compare it to the Greens which is easy to manoeuvre around and just makes sense. I guess the Executive responsible for Labours Website are lacking funds, because they lack member contributions...I wonder fucken well why that is???

One of the problems with being a member of the Labour Party is that quite frankly it is embarrassing. I would join the Greens but a little worried about their Agriculture/ Farming policies...we still have to pay the Bills (Tonight on TV1 they were complaining about Live Cow exports, when someone pays 2.5k a cow they are going to make sure they are pretty well looked after), that leaves Mana...well they are a possibility but may be a little to LEFT for me but I really like a lot of their policies, and I reckon Sykes would be great in parliament.

In fact the only decent thing about Labour on the web is David Cunliffes website...cunliffe.co.nz.

Oh dear me .
I'm amazed there are those of you out there who actually believe , truly and honestly believe that Labour is in opposition to the National Party .

Talk about ' Ok ! Here I am beside all these trees but where the fuck's the woods ? ' It's kind of quaint and olde worlde . Awwww , you guys .

Keeping up appearances must keep Shearer awake at nights and I just saw jonky-stien excreting poisoned air for words on the news . He's got the look of the successful swindler . And I must give a special thanks to those two Maori guys for rattling the little prick when they grabbed him by the Armani and roughed him into a look of terror . Well done boys ! For any of you who want to see it again ; http://youtu.be/6eyzT_3rETE

It's no surprise to this ranter that Labour is dragging the chain re Blogging . Just another methodology in the facade of a Party that spawned roger douglas The Destroyer as they desperately try to keep the lid on the worms .
