Congratulations to Keith Locke for winning the Amnesty International human rights defender 2012! A great NZer who has tirelessly fought for human rights with a quiet dignity and humble nature. His intellect and passion are national treasures. He is a political conscience in a time of willful ignorance. Kia kaha Keith.
Congratulations indeed; tragically this government only measures achievement by how much money it makes and even more tragically my fellow NZers seem happy to go along with that.
I live overseas and have done for the last few years (returned in 2010, was unable to get a job in NZ and was told by WINZ to dumb down my CV)but follow politics closely. I feel sick at what is happening in NZ.
Keith Locke is a good man, and our Parliament is poorer to not have him anymore. I had the pleasure of hearing him speak at a protest on the Search and Surveillance bill last year, he was eloquent and passionate.
