90 Day right to sack and toothless climate control legislation made it a shit week to be a worker or mother Earth

So this week the Government brought in new rules to stop unions from entering work places while handing bosses the right to sack anyone for anything within the first 90 days. This expansion of power by the bosses wasn't originally backed by the Minister of Labour Kate Wilkenson, but John Key decided to give ACT, the far right party of hypocrisy a bone.

National is allowing ACT who wouldn't mind legalizing slavery for corporate profits to determine our labour laws and they seem to be allowing ACT to determine our environmental policy with the signing off of an ETS that is so weak and meaningless it makes the decision by the company owning Pike River Coal to not front at the inquiry because they've spent all their money look like a brave decision based on courage.

The climate change law that National have passed has no mechanism to measure the 50% reduction in emissions, all it does is hand the dirtiest, filthiest polluters massive pollution subsidies until 2050! The Arctic will be ice free before NZ polluters pay for the full cost of their pollution.

When National weren't screwing workers and Mother Earth this week, they were screwing the rest of us by allowing the Secret Intelligence Service to hold their requests for more powers in secret this week. These are additional powers above and beyond the Search and Survillence powers that the State will give every Government Department to spy on us without warrants.

Whanau, I know that bullshit stories inspired by right bloggers with deep links to National about Phil Goff getting rolled are all terribly exciting, but when the mainstream media have finished doing the bidding of the Governments spin doctors, could any of them take some time out to examine the vast expansion of police powers that are being pushed through with as little debate as possible?

Or does that require too much research beyond clicking on Kiwiblogh?

Totally agree Bomber, I have been commenting on all of the above myself and have decided this Government just likes deficits; budget deficits, deficits in Carbon Credits and a huge deficit in visionary thinking.

Bullshit. Finally employers are getting back some of their rights to control their OWN businesses and the jobs THEY own from those who want to barge in and dictate to them. Finally some real justice and a smack in the eye to parasites an bludgers who think everyone else owes them a living on their terms....

Steady on James...put down your banjo and pick up a book.

Last time I checked the neo-liberal influenced capitalism that we live under ensures that economic inequality falls firmly in favour of business and land owners.
Take a look at the history of employment relations in NZ, you will see that at the beginning of the year, employers had almost as much power as they have EVER had.

How's the current levels of inequality? Would you like to see the poor get poorer at a quicker rate? Is that your point?

Ignorant and irrelevant use of terms such as "parasites" and "bludgers" may work in the local rugby changing room, but unfortunately for you, enlightenment has affected the people that read this blog.

People only continue to OWN a business because the general public are able to PAY them for goods/services with MONEY that they have EARNED....take away people's ability to earn, you take away businesses.

Who you gonna sell to? FFS

First mistake... we do not have liberal, free market Capitalism in NZ..neo or otherwise. We are living under a over regulating quasi socialist system of government which taxes and redistributes taxpayer money to thoses whom it doesn't belong to in a bloated and terminal welfare state....not something that happens under real FM capitalism.Indeed in a free market the state DOES NOT have anything to do with the economy...period.No tax,no communist commission,etc.. Quite a bit different to what we have now eh comrade?

"Take a look at the history of employment relations in NZ, you will see that at the beginning of the year, employers had almost as much power as they have EVER had."

Bullshit.Unions empowered by the hairy arm of Government bully and demand privileges that employers are forced by law to offer.Employers are the OWNERS of the jobs...they belong to them...get it? Its the same as if you invite someone into your house..your place your rules.Employment law hammers the little company's and isolates the big company's into almost monopoly status thanks to the difference in scale. If Lefties really wanted to hit the big boys and help the little guys they would be for a free market...not stupidly fighting it.

'How's the current levels of inequality? Would you like to see the poor get poorer at a quicker rate? Is that your point?"

Get the state out of the way and history shows capitalism is the greatest equaliser there's ever been...if equality really matters when he so called poor in NZ are richer that most of the rest of the worlds population is or have ever been.

Like who? Economic and political illiterates who think money just "happens" and Jobs sprout from the ground with no thought of the effort of those who bring them into being in the first place?Back to econ 101 for you pal.

"People only continue to OWN a business because the general public are able to PAY them for goods/services with MONEY that they have EARNED....take away people's ability to earn, you take away businesses."

Which is what unions and greedy governments do via demanding unsustainable wage rises not backed by increased production and rampant taxation that bleeds the private sector...ie the people.

"Who you gonna sell to? FFS"

Who can buy things now but the rich when the government has impoverished everyone else with high taxes and an over regulated economy that protects the big boys and kneecaps the choices of consumers and taxpayers?

Now run along...somewhere some workers revolution is missing its useful idiot...

Whats your interest / background James...is it economics, history or politics?
I would honestly love to know.

"We are living under a over regulating quasi socialist system of government which taxes and redistributes taxpayer money to those whom it doesn't belong to in a bloated and terminal welfare state"

Sorry, my bad...I was stupidly talking about neo-liberal employment relations...in reference to the post, which was about employment relations...are we changing the subject to welfare now?

"Employers are the OWNERS of the jobs...they belong to them...get it?"

That's true, although to be fair, I never said the opposite...but I still don't really get it. Are you suggesting ownership of a job excludes the need for employment regulations?

"If Lefties really wanted to hit the big boys and help the little guys they would be for a free market...not stupidly fighting it...Get the state out of the way and history shows capitalism is the greatest equaliser there's ever been"

That's the sort of statement I have no comeback for...you have pointed out how stupid Friedrich von Hayek was when he said that material equality needs severe government control.
http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/f/friedricha201842.html

That's the last time I listen to a crazy 'leftie' like Hayek...stupid me.

"Back to econ 101 for you pal."

...sure is...buddy...mate...chum...crony...

"Who can buy things now but the rich when the government has impoverished everyone else with high taxes"

Yeah, gotta be the high taxes...if we had lowered our taxes to a comparable country like Australia, we would do way better...how much lower are the taxes in Australia...I forget?

"an over regulated economy that protects the big boys"

There you go cutting down Hayek again with your knowledgeable analysis. Hayek is so dumb eh James?...where does he get his stupid ideas about the market increasing inequality???

Your well reasoned and well research points show you have a firm grasp on things.
I will run along now with my tail between my legs... thanks for opening my eyes James.
