...and it was 'a notable blow' in the fight against injustice when a 1986 study by the Office of the Race Relations Conciliator , Racism and Rental Accomodation exposed racism.Landlords and real estate agents were found to be less willing to rent accommodation to maori and pacific islanders after those who were successfully initially over the phone still less than half compared with others in places the now Epsom electorate or Orakei ward and face to face one sixth less likely to succeed.No one was prepared to dispute the results.No one denied that the landlords and their real estate agents had done grievous wrong.To be racist or snobs simply on the grounds of skin colour was not a thing to be defended 'in public' at all!
