What do NZ Police have to do before being criticized by the Independent (and I use that word as broadly as I possibly can) Police Conduct Authority?

NZ's London cop had been accused of sex harassment
A senior police officer appointed to a prestigious London position had previously been accused of sexually harassing a female police employee. Police reached a confidential settlement – understood to have totalled at least $20,000 – with the woman, who will be sworn in next month as a Family Court judge. Sarah Lindsay, of Whakatane, worked for police and lodged a sexual harassment complaint against Gary Smith when he was the Bay of Plenty district commander. Her allegations were investigated by Howard Broad, who is now the country's top-ranked police officer.

Last week, the Independent (and I use that word as broadly as I possibly can) Police Conduct Authority decided there wasn’t sufficient public interest in a story involving two Police Officers who abused their powers to arrest and frame a woman for arson, who then had their bosses gloss over these abuses and one of those bosses, Superintendent Gary Smith then gets a tasty little promotion to do the European cocktail circuit. How this failed to reach the Independent (and I use that word as broadly as I possibly can) Police Conduct Authority’s public interest threshold is astounding, because I’m a member of the public, and I’m fucking fascinated.

Just when you didn’t think this story could get any more dodge, it now turns out Superintendent Gary Smith, the one who glossed over a case of Police misusing their powers by framing a woman for arson and who received this glorious trip overseas to drink Bombay Gin at 4’s while attacking pinko liberals is now alleged to have cost the taxpayer $20 000 in a sexual harassment case involving a woman now about to be sworn in as a Family Court Judge.

So if I may recap, glossing over Police abuse of power while costing the taxpayer $20 000 in sexual harassment fines AND THEN getting a promotion to go bar hoping with diplomats in London, and the Independent (and I use that word as broadly as I possibly can) Police Conduct Authority didn’t think any of this was of sufficient interest to the public?

What must the Police do for the Independent (and I use that word as broadly as I possibly can) Police Conduct Authority to decide it’s in the interests of the public to know? One gets the feeling the Police would have to start filming the shooting of handcuffed mothers at point blank range in the back of the head and upload them to to Youtube with a direct link through to the Independent (and I use that word as broadly as I possibly can) Police Conduct Authority online complaints department, and then only if there had been a negative reaction to the story from
Pippa Wetzell on Breakfast.

"Or do you simply get your 'facts' from the herald?"

It's a bitter indictment on the modern definition of bravery if we attach it to someone who confronts the police from behind a keyboard in a democratic country.

This is YOUR IPCA you clown, you don't have to be a raving lefty to demand they hold the Police to account, and their unbelievable threshold of what they consider 'sufficient public interest' should offend you more than my critiocism of them.

I've noticed with the right even if you pop their pretensions, they get angry at you personally for popping the pretension rather than all the false effort they've sunk into the pretension.

The Police should be held accountable and the board that holds them accountable should be doing a much better job than this farce, getting shitty at me for pointing that out suggests you are pro-authority minus any justification for that authority, that is a trait in sheep, not human beings.
