More Paul Henry Racist Public Broadcasting

Paul Henry could shit live on a baby and the BSA would still let him off the hook cause he's 'cheeky'.

Henry asks if Governor-General 'even a NZer?'
Television New Zealand host Paul Henry today urged the Prime Minister to select a Governor-General who "looks and sounds more like a New Zealander".

On the Breakfast programme Henry asked John Key whether Governor-General Sir Anand Satyanand was a New Zealander or not.

When assured by Prime Minister John Key that he was, Henry asked if he was going to pick someone who looked more like a New Zealander next time.

Sir Anand is New Zealand's first Governor-General of Indian and Pacific ancestry. He had a lengthy career as a lawyer, judge and ombudsman before taking up the job in August 2006.

Oh for Christ's sake, he's done it again. We must be the only country in the OECD that has an active racist public broadcasting service. Most public broadcasting tends to attempt enlightened discussion for the purpose of holding the powerful to account thus empowering a functioning democracy, in NZ we allow a former National Party candidate to cuddle the PM, make racist brainfarts live on air and actively try to insult almost every minority NZ has.

Insulting someone as honourable as the Governor-General on our very own public broadcaster is just astounding, and like every other complaint, the national party appointed BSA will roll over and allow him to get away with it.

Anand was was born and raised in Auckland for fucks sakes, it's Paul Henry's own ignorance he is illuminating the airwaves with for considering someone not white enough for his liking could not possibly be a NZer.

Paul Henry is a former National Party candidate and a current National Party gimp, his glorified handjobs which pass as interviews are always eye rolling and his ability to offend every minority group seems pathological.

Insulting our Governor-General MUST be the final straw, surely TVNZ are going to reprimand him and the BSA will find against him - what the bloody hell does Paul Henry have to do to get fired?

PS: Hold on, Paul Henry was born in Auckland, but moved when he was 11 to Bristol to live in England but the Governor-General Sir Anand Satyanand was born and raised in Auckland - so by Henry's definition, the Governor-General Sir Anand Satyanand is more of a New Zealander than Paul Henry. Classic.

The guy tries and comes across as some sort of honest straight up 'i'm not pc' blurt out your mind kind of everyday man's folk hero.

But in reality his comments come across as carefully contrived and premeditated - he is simply a serial attention seeker.

What is even more disturbing than Henry's comments, is the reaction from TVNZ:

"The audience tell us over and over again that one of the things they love about Paul Henry is that he's prepared to say the things we quietly think but are scared to say out loud," a TVNZ spokeswoman said.

"The question of John Key is the same: we want the answer but are to scared to ask."

The BSA considers sex at tea time more of a threat to our nation than racism at breakfast.

As long as he rates as highly as he does they won't get rid of him...simple as.

They put Sunrise out of business, people had an alternative but didn't switch to it. TVNZ maybe the public broadcaster, and is charged with certain public benefit goals, but as a business they are only interested in the dirty old bottom line.

"Surely TVNZ are going to reprimand him and the BSA will find against him"

What can the BSA do, if they find against him does he go? Surely if Holmes can survive "cheeky darky" this will just join the other list of complaints.

Are you sure he was born here? I seem to remember him claiming to have migrated here at about 7 then going back at 11 when his parents seperated.
I make the point because a big chunk of TVNZ's staff are expat english, some of whom have been heard to decry what england has become since "those people" were "let in".
I realise in saying that I will probably get censored/spiked, but it is the refusal of lefties to confront those on the right determioned to turn NZ into a 'little england' that has allowed these racist creeps to feel sufficiently empowered to speak their worn out prejudices.
The NZ I was raised in always considered itself to be a multi-ethnic population living in a bi-cultural society, and I believe the noticeable shift in that attitude occurred in sync with an increase in immigration into NZ from the Northern Hemisphere and South Africa.
I could give a damp smelly about where my fellow countrymen emanate from; but I do care if they bring tired, divisive, and failed beliefs from other societies in a knuckle headed attempt to recreate a fictitious past in our real country.

Yup, there's "not being PC" and then there is just plain being mean spirited, abusive, deliberately obnoxious and in this case (implying that ethnic background supersedes even country of birth as to whether or not one is a "New Zealander") bare naked racism.

This isn't just being unkind, such as he was to Susan Boyle, or indulging in kindergarten level toilet humour immaturity with Sheila Dikshit's name, and that Save the Somethings woman DID have a moustache. I honestly didn't care about those, it was all cheap humour, from a man I disliked, on a show I didn't watch, directed at people I didn't care about.

I understand that saying here that you don't care about certain people would be terribly unpopular and may cause gasps and fainting. But I really want to convey that I put up with a lot of crap from the likes of Paul Henry because really it is none of my concern. I dislike that he is using cheap and rather unsophisticated shots that are just plain unkind and show a mean spirit and ungenerous soul. But my displeasure would ordinarily only go so far as to roll my eyes while registering mild disgust and changing the channel.

But this, this goes way way way beyond that. I know it might be hard for the "righties" that would ordinarily defend Henry to see. But stop and think about this for a second: Your ethnic heritage, according to Henry, supersedes your birthright to citizenship in your country of origin.

This is indefensible. This is the exact angle that nationalist white supremacist groups take. There is nothing of value in Paul Henry for anyone on the right.

Hey Anonymous, you have noticed something I already noticed - to make a very broad generalisation, I have found of all the different peoples I come across, that it is the English migrant who gets most worked up about treaty of Waitangi issues and bitter against Maori (I don't know what their attitude towards Asians is - coz I'm Asian myself!).

However, I have found South Africans to be generally pretty good, with much less of a racial chip on their shoulder than the English. I don't know why - it is just what I have observed.

Actually his comments about the woman and the moustache, were perhaps the worst of his oubursts.

He publicly humiliated the lady, made her a laughing stock over a physical characteristic she likely had absolutely no control of (even if she did Henry's behaviour would have been equally unacceptable).

There is not much difference between that and racism, and the incident showed him up to be the nasty mean spirited juvenile playground bully he is.

All those who say 'lighten up, don't be over sensitive' would be just as hurt and outraged if they themselves were the unwitting butt of others pathetic attempts at 'humour.' No one enjoys being laughed at.

There's not many people who would want to be publicly disparaged for the way they look or their perceived level of attractivness or lack thereof -no matter how 'un-pc' they claim themselves to be.

Its not about PC or even racial or cultural sensitivity - its just about doing unto others - ie the golden rule. That fucken simple.

In any case, in this society, it takes far more guts to be 'PC' than anti-PC. Anti-PC is just populism. So cunts like Henry know they can get away with it. It actually takes far more guts to be a John Minto than a Paul Henry.

I'm at the end of my tether with Paul Henry. I am so angry and frustrated at him and in a way even worse TVNZ's constant denial and endorsement of his disgusting behavior.

I suppose its the monkeys and typewriters thing but for once the herald has something right, this issue is down to tvnz as a whole not just the Henry shitstain.
That breakfast mob are forever setting up their cameras all over NZ acting like the community mionded tv channel which they plainly aren't. Nothing will stop that quicker than a selection of NZers turning up standing behind weatherboy telling viewers TVNZ sux or best of all not to buy whatever is pushed ta them in the gaps between the talking heads.

Next time the racist pr1cks are in my neighbourhood I'm going to do it and I suggest others do the same.
All of them - from the assortment of blonde women to the weatherboy are complicit in this so they all need to be held accountable.

Wayne yes I'm afraid it is true hit a barbie anywhere in the east coast bays on a saturday night and there is a better than even chance an englihman will be agreeing with a south african about 'the maori problem' or 'the asians'. I've had south africans I don't know ring me up and abuse me because I had publicly advocated the extension of health service to some Pacific people who were in desperate need at the time. He called me a n****r lover wanting to give away 'our' health services. When I asked him that judging by his accent he wasn't a kiwi so who was he to call himself 'one of us' he became positively apoplectic and said "us white folks have to stick together". "Us kiwis" had become "us whiteys"

If you've travelled on your own much you will know the rush you can get when you bump into another kiwi. Pretty soon you realise that the other person's kiwiness trumps all else, no matter whether they are Maori, whitefella, Pacifica, Indian or Chinese ethnic origin-all of that is trivial in comparison to the shared national values you recgnise in each other.

Some white South Africans want kiwis to appreciate how they felt about africa, yet won't show the same consideration when they should look at issues through other's viewpoints.

Henry's comments deserve this disciplinary action but some of the language on this forum is more deeply offensive than anything that the state funded egomaniac has ever uttered.
