If Whitireia is a reason to abolish student unions then Taito Phillip Field & Roger McClay are reasons to disband Parliament

Editorial: Whitireia scandal reinforces levy folly
OPINION: Whitireia Independent Students' Association is not the first student association to have trouble administering the fees it collects. However, with $1 million missing from the association's funds, it will add impetus to the campaign to make students' associations truly voluntary.

David Farrar has NOTHING to say about Rodney Hide refusing to explain why he sacked a Minister of the Crown, but he has plenty of shit to throw at Student Unions by holding up the example of Whitireia as the reason why student unions should be abolished.

What a load of cobblers, as I said to Roger Douglas last week regarding voluntary student membership...

all council staff, mayors and politicians should also have a 90 day trial to see if they are any good at the job? After 90 days there can be a review to see if they have the skills to go with the job?

But, as someone about to go back to fulltime study, what if I dont want to join the union? Why would you *make* me?

Because, apparently, the NZ arts scene sucks so badly that it can't survive without forcing poor students to fund it.
