No Prime Minister, you should have sacked Andy Haden

Haden right to quit Cup role, says PM
Former All Black Andy Haden's resignation from his Rugby World Cup (RWC) ambassador role was the right outcome, Prime Minister John Key says.

No Prime Minister, it was weak of you NOT to sack him the first time around when he used 'darkie' in the casually racist way someone who was casually racist would use the word, the fact he was been allowed to stay on as a RWC ambassador and then spew more crude filth than the BP Gulf of Mexico leak about woman only thinking they were raped when the cheque bounced shows a sad lack of leadership on Andy Haden's behalf and Murray McCully's behalf.

How can there be two sides to the story when referring to the Robin Brooke case Andy when one of the sides was in a near drunken coma?

And let's look at what Andy has actually said because as you will note, the bugger does not apologize at all...

In his email to Mr McCully, Haden said he was resigning "to ensure that neither your leveraging initiatives or the game of rugby that I love are compromised by the current media backlash to the comments I have made on television recently.

"I feel that to stay in the role, given the current media beat-up, would mean having to remove myself from making public comments on the game or related issues," he wrote.

"I have always believed in saying what I think, and I will always be true to myself in that regard and it's a sad day for society when people such as I are unable to express what we believe without a media beat-up from those with sectional interests."

...this arrogant dick is still claiming his comments were some how acceptable and its just been one big media beat up??? What is more unbelievable is Key still defending this clown by using Christine Rankin as an example to explain why Andy was given a second chance after the darkie comment???

This has become a joke looking for a punchline.

Yeah well what did you expect??

If Holmes can get away with it and not be sacked .

Gives impression that calling non whites darkies is all accepting

P daddy should have been sacked when he did it and Haden (now maybe his spewing of such filth leads back to Holmes hookin him up with some P )

I find it is time that most people been around in same job for decades like Holmes should be hosed out with the rest of the excess filth and put out to pasture-

I just about pissed myself when seeing Pdaddy nut off re Mp's rorting the system when Pdaddy was getting how much??? for his clothing allowance before the darkie comments

It is just a well known fact that most of Nacts and their mates think its all good to make such comments and get away with it.
Why is this ??

'cos theyre euro

The Irony is, of course, there was some truth to Haden's comments.

Damn right he should have been sacked. He disgusts me, it'd be a different story if he was getting it up the a*** while he was passed out. The government should have taken a much harsher stand

Yes, "some truth", but its not ironic at all.
If an old lady allows a stranger into her house, then gets raped, the old lady is not to blame - even though she shouldn't have let the stranger in.
I fail to see your point, do you have one?
Haden is an rugga fuck up and is unable to see that his narrow minded version of the truth is not absolute.
He also claimed "It's an equal society now", and applied that to sexual assaults.....that's completely untrue, whichever way you look at it.
Even his wiki page fails to say anything positive about Andy Haden, but its clear he's managed to make a lot of enemies.
The only people who like him are self centered inbred rednecks who consider verbal racism / ignorance to be common sense talk.....thank god this isn't 'the good old days' and thank god for political correctness.
Would someone please tell the old rugga's of NZ (and John Key) that it is no longer OK to be a sexist racist.

Trying to compare so called racist statements from Hone Harawira and Andy Haden shows a lack of understanding as to what racism is and how its perpetuated.
Racism is more than words and actions, it is about power and control, the racist usually holds power over those they are degrading.
If you look at the statistics, it is very difficult for Maori to be racist against Pakeha, as Maori are worse off in so many ways.
If you can't understand how historical events and socio-economic positions affects racism, then carry on with your irrelevant comparisons.....a drunk at the pub will probably agree with you.

So by your logic Hone is racist since as an MP in a party which is allied with the governing National Party has a certain amount of power and influence where as Haden's honorific postion as 'rugby world cup ambassador' has no power whatsover so his utterences cannot be racist.

Good to know that.

Re Anon comments about Hone - racism depends on power and privilege. There is no such thing as 'reverse racism' and 'reverse sexism' because that would imply that equality between groups has already been achieved.
Also, when Hone made those remarks the weight of the establishment came down on him and he was heavily censured, even by his own party.
Haden has not seen such criticism and censuring and McCully even accepted his resignation 'with regret'.

Thanks, Bomber, for this post. It's reassuring that it's not just feminists and people of colour writing about these issues.

So what the hell do you people call racially directed hatred, prejudice and stereotyping when it's coming from a minority race if it isn't racism? You can't just redefine words to suit your own narrow world view.

And saying that an elected member of parliament can't be racist because he does have "power" or "privilege" seems breath-takingly condescending to me.

Yes you can. It's call post modernism, the bedrock of gender and race studies as evidenced by utterences here.

Trying to call someone a racist based on their position in society is one of the most stupid things I have ever heard. That would mean all those skin heads in Christchurch who constitute the worst inbred, ill-educated economically disadvantaged and substance abusing dregs of white society would not be racist?

"it is very difficult for Maori to be racist against Pakeha, as Maori are worse off in so many ways."

But not impossible. Thanks for conceding that.
