Arming NZ cops

The point many seem to have missed in the latest moral panic the Police Association are attempting to cause over the Police shootings this week is how possessing guns would have prevented the ambush.

Possessing guns wouldn't have prevented this ambush, so the Police would have had to have entered with guns drawn, that is what gun arming proponents are really arguing for, the power to allow the Police to enter your private sphere with guns drawn, for any reason whatsoever. This case was a warrentless search hilariously invoked under the Misuse of Drugs Act based on the smelling of marijuana, are we really comfortable with the concept of Police being able to raid your home based on the smell of marijuana with guns drawn? Is that really what we as NZers would accept as a tactic by the Police? Our Policing philosophy is containment, so that cooler heads can talk the situation down, allowing the Police to enter private homes with guns drawn would result in a first strike aggressive para military styled Police force.

Is that what we really want in NZ?

Strange that despite Cannabis being completely harmless that the last two murderous shooting rampages in this country have both involved cannabis dealer/users.

It's about time we gave up the illusion that it is harmless and look seriously at the severe mental health problems it causes with the associated pychosis and paranoia.

Armed cops raid Meth dealers all the time without incident, maybe instead of adopting such a low key softy softy approach to cannabis dealers they need to adopt the same approach as they do with other drug dealers.

A containment approach will never work when trying to search houses selling drugs, what are they doing to do surround the house at a distance then get in a negotiator to persuade them to come out peacefully meanwhile the stash is down the toilet and the rest of the operation is destroyed.

I'm pretty comfortable with it. Sick of seeing cops get shot for no reason.

maybe its from meth abuse that he has this paranoia and pychosis if weed was so dangerous mankind wouldnt have a 3000 year old history associated with it, they would have worked out long ago it was poisonous like a toadstool or various plants, look at the large amount of social harm alcohol does, friday nite bar brawls, A&E is full on the weekend with alcohol related incidents, wife beatings, never known any one to smoke a joint and go out and rape someone, the same cant be said for alcohol it is behind a large amounts of rape cases and deaths on the road.

The most misused drug is alcohol.
School kids killing themselves with spirits.
School teachers getting their head kicked like a soccer ball causing death in a drunken brawl, and what do we get?
Keep it 18.
Yeah arm the police so they can shoot the fuckwits which keep alcohol legal.
Alcohol. The most deadly drug of all.

Tony, you are wrong. Cannabis doesn,t cause paranoia, Prohibition causes paranoia.
If Cannabis was legalized and regulated, this situation would not have happened.
Prohibition is the policy of maximizing drug related harm. It has benefits to no one other than gangs and corrupt police and politicians.
In America where the Police carry guns, time and time again they have murdered students who other than smoking a bit of pot were honest, law abiding members of society. We simply can not allow this to happen here.
