PEDA Limited

Via: Red Alert:
Efeso Collins – the 531 PI radio announcer who has been taken off the Saturday morning breakfast show for asking too many questions about the Pacific Economic Development Agency:
I believe all of my co-bloggers know Mr Collins. He is held in high regard by everyone I know from when he served on the Auckland University student administration. He did so with distinction - as a consensus-builder and as a benevolent leader who always held the confidence of his electorate. He is not one for shenanigans. If he is making an official complaint then he will receive widespread support.
From Companies Office:
Anyone who goes through the extraordinary lengths that Te Heuheu does to avoid giving any details is certainly hiding something. Watch...And today's questioning of Bill English's involvement... Listen.
UPDATE | 7:30PM: Maybe the 6 page report had a lot of graphs? Graphs are very impressive in reports. A picture may be worth a thousand words but a graph has to be worth at least a million dollars.
This has to pass the sniff test to avoid ministerial fall-out and it has already failed that test.

Its an interesting point!
It raises a whole lot of issues concerning the "executive" and their influence on various bodies.....also on foreign policy in general - which is usually left to a few out of touch in the administration (usually with all the bullshit excuses like national security).
I note that an ex-Australian Army guy has just come out and suggested that the Australia's (Stray-yah's - for Anonymouse's benefit) involvement in wars should be put to the parliament (and therefore the electorate) every so often.
Slightly off point I know, but these cosy little arrangements - be they PEDA, the PAC FORUM (which has become not MUCH more than a talk fest) shouldn't just be left to an elite with sfa scrutiny. Especially so when we hear of changes in AID policy that is purely based on economic benefit - which means perks for Nat ideologues. It's not much better than just another perk.
I mean...do you really trust foreign policy with Muff McCully? Or indeed John Key for that matter who has only just come to terms with the fact that we live fairly close to Fiji, which happens to have a coup going on at the moment. Thank Christ he's chosen to follow thy leader (Stray-ya) rather than make a complete fool of himself as far as any NewZild Neshnul Pardy nishtif goes.
I bet MFAT couldn't belive their luck when Muff McCully burbled his way onto centre stage.
Efeso Collins is a great man, I have huge amounts of respect for him and what he does and if he is suspicious of this PEDA deal then I trust his call over anything this Government has to say.
