Who stole Don's emails?

Police fail to find source of leaked Brash emails
Former National Party leader Don Brash says he appreciates police efforts to find who was behind his emails being given to a journalist, but accepts the culprit will probably never be found. Police today released findings of a review they did into how they handled a investigation into the emails which were published in the book, The Hollow Men, by journalist Nicky Hager. The review found the original investigation was competently carried out and its findings were correct. However, the review was critical of the lack of management over the timeliness of progress reports provided to Dr Brash and that he had to wait too long for his copy of the final report.
Who stole Don's emails?
I have posted many times that during the fast pace of the election build up that Don Brash liked to read his emails at the end of each day in printed format and it was those printed emails that made up the emails in the book (he would write the word 'S' on each email he wanted shredded). The question I’ve always asked is who was the staff member responsible for shredding those emails?
After posting on the claim that Don would print his emails off and read them, the Godfather of National Party spin on-line, David Farrar posted on Tumeke…
Don did not require his emails to be printed out as he liked reading them in paper format.
Don was probably the most heavy email user of any MP I have known. He was 100% comfortable with reading and responding electronically. He would send dozens of emails a day and often respond within minutes.
So Don did not get his emails printed out for him, and there was no shredding of them the next day.
I know this as I was IT Manager for the NLO when Don became Leader.permi
I repeat - I worked in the office, and have first hand knowledge of the system. While I was there Don never had emails to his private address printed off for him. E-mails to the public address went to his staff who printed them off for him, along with a draft reply. But that was not the case for emails to his direct account - which the Hager ones were.
..I responded to David…
With all due respect, why would I believe someone as closely welded to the National Party spin machine as you? And if this all happened on your watch wouldn't you have a vested interest to hide such a basic mistake? And if the leaker was a spouse of a front bench National Party MP wouldn't you be the first to spin it elsewhere?
…David still seems to be using the defense line John Key is using that the emails were hacked, yet the Police have been very clear that hacking the emails was the least likely to have occurred. David was working as the IT man for Don's office and is a very good friend of the English family and of course Mary also just happened to be on the same school board as Nicky Hagar, the writer of the book. In the above comments David claims Don didn't print emails or shred them, that simply isn't true - DON DID PRINT HIS EMAILS AND HE DID HAVE THEM SHRED! I find it really interesting that David was so quick to try and shut down the printed email theory.
The counter conspiracy theory to the hacker one used by Key is that a lady Macbeth ambition had turned bitter because her King was knocked off by a coup of right wing nutbars who wanted to secretly implement a hard right wing agenda. Mix a bit of old fashioned catholic guilt and social conscience and one can justify political betrayal couldn’t one?
National don't want to know who leaked the emails, because if it is as close as the conspiracy theory suggests the truth would be devastating to the party.

What is really pathetic is the
" I know this as I was IT Manager for the NLO when Don became Leader.permi" bit.
On the basis that he was IT manager - he therefore knew everything that went on in Don's office to do with IT equipment used.
Yea right!. So he was with him at all times that equipment was used? OR he systematically, regularly and consistently reviewed all logs or records that would indicate emails being printed? (i.e. assuming all such is in fact logged or recorded in some way).
Sorry David - but you demolish your own credibility sometimes! ANyone that's undertaken even the most basic of IT support or system administration knows that there are ways and means.
