Facebook wars

As at 9:30 am on Thursday 11 March 2010 the Save Radio New Zealand facebook group has more fans (on 18,973) than New Zealand's Prime Minister, John Key (on 18,972). Well done!

Would one of those people explain to me how the government is killing radio nz by not cutting funding? Also, given the 50 billion wiped off the economy, how do these morons propose we fund their radio station

Easy. The 2007 report showed RNZ were underfunded by 27%, by giving no funding increase National are financially suffocating RNZ.

You seem to show an utter lack of comprehension regarding the role of public broadcasting and the need to hold the Government to account as a working function of a healthy democracy. Sure we could use the loss of money caused by an international neoliberal agenda gone mad and implement further neoliberal agendas on the domestic front to solve the problems caused by the international use of this ideology, but the irony could kill those who like to think.

The definition of madness: doing the same thing the same way and expecting a different result.
That's all we need to know about the right's grand plan.
Until the next crash, good luck anonymous!

I'm guessing the second anon is the type of person that was so up in arms about that bloody brown TV stations using our money to win the rights to the Rugby World Cup, but are more than happy now that the government has stepped in to help out three other competing networks so they can watch the final on at least 4 stations and won't have to be worried about hearing a bunch of brown people speaking their own langauge every so often during the broadcast.

There's so much waste going on out there (how much is the Auckland Super City going to cost us?) that the amount spent on public radio is a pittance

That is still 17,000 less than the "Bring Back Georgie Pie" facebook group.

Please stop pretending that the number of members a facebook group has is proof of anything.

There must be panic in the national party as they feel the wrath of a facebook group.
