Pathetic Q+A

My god the interview by Guy Smiley on Q+A with Paula Bennett this morning was the weakest political interview I’ve ever seen, Q+A should be embarrassed. What a pathetic attempt to hold NZ’s version of Sarah Palin to account. He barely asked any questions about what she had done last week by releasing the names, which suggests they pre-arranged the questions, that was obviously a no go area. Pathetic.

And Bill English paying himself a grand a week to rent his own home was not mentioned apart from one comment by Mike Williams.

Bennett spoke for perhaps 8 minutes, 7 mins 15 sec she actually said nothing relevant at all.
The only comment of substance was that she thought the two women this week deserved every cent of the money they were being slayed by the public for getting.
Espiner is useless.

And our languages are our media. Our media are our metaphors. Our metaphors create the content of our culture.

We journalist's are no longer the gatekeeper's in the marketplace of ideas rings true within the blogosphere (a term some journo's loathe).Ironically, given journalist's initial tendency to disparage the quality of blogposts and comments , mainstream media journalists have increasingly found themselves reporting on us as significant sources of valid opinions (and not slimy imposters) analysis and critique.

INSIDE THE BLOGS.

First you needed some knowledge of webpage/sites and hyperlink/permalink to other blogs coding in order to post material to the internet.Second, you needed a certain kind of 'cultural understanding' of the web to see it not so much as a place of threatening proportions to your trade but rather where you could as a journalist, (naturally would) merely publish information but instead rather move from web.1.0 to web 2.0 and actually participation.

I can not believe that in a week where John Key was caught out over his 160 jobs from 3700 jobs, Nick Smith caught out on the true cost of emmission cutting and Paula Bennett's outragous use of power to start a wave of solo mother denegration and a caste-esk structure where those on welfare somehow have less legal rights than the rest of us that this was all Q+A could muster???

Pathetic on every level

PARTICIPATION.A NOTE ON NEW LITERACY.NEW TECHNICAL STUFF AND NEW ETHOS STUFF.

WHETHER OR NOT ONE CAN COMMENT MAY BE A FUNCTION OF THE PARAMETER'S THAT ARE SET BY THE BLOGGER OR THE BLOGGER'S HOST SERVICE (PUBIC ADDRESS HAS THIS END OF THE MARKET SEWN UP PRESUMABLY SO AS NOT TO UPSET THE REGULAR TOP TEN BLOGGERS LIKE HIMSELF.

WHERE ANONY MOOSE COMMENTING IS PERMITTED THERE ARE NO HOOPS TO JUMP THROUGH BUT FEEDBACK IS LIMITED TO THOSE WHO HAVE A HANDLE LIKE RICK/DICK ROWLIN (DUNCAN GARNER) OR DANGEROUS DAN (GUY SMILEY/ESPINER).

MOST BLOGGER'S ARE KEEN TO OPEN THE DOOR AS FAR AS POSSIBLE.FROM THE BLOGGER STANDPOINT THEY CAN EITHER REPLY DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY THROUGH ANOTHER SUBJECT OR TOPIC AT THE TOP OF THE BLOG-ROLL.THIS IS NOT OBVIOUS TO FIRST TIME PARTICIPANT'S.ON TALKBACK FOR EXAMPLE YOU JUST MENTION YOU HEARD SO AND SO'S COMMENTS AND RESPOND.FAR EASIER TO USE THE LANDLINE/PHONE AND RING A FREE 0800 NUMBER AND HAVE A LISTEN LATER TO YOUR CALL ON THE COMPUTER ARCHIVES OF THE RADIO STATION'S WEBSITE.THAT'S WHAT I DO!

Up is down if the capitalist media says so. The only answer is organisation and resistance. Keep on blogg’n Bomber!

Shitheads like Bennett have some profile at the moment, aided by tory toerags such as Espiner, but that does not mean the rest of us have to join them.

To speak of quality NZ current-affairs broadcasting, it is difficult to go past Mary Wilson, host of Check Point, on Radio New Zealand National, weekdays 5-7pm. Mary is such an asset to NZ broadcasting - she is driven, methodical, and asks the pertinent questions, refusing to be distracted or diverted from the crux of the inquiry. I am not associated with Radio New Zealand National one iota, and I do not know Mary Wilson, either directly or indirectly, however, while there's talk of broadcasting and journalism of varying quality - Mary works with a team of journalists and researchers - I thought hey, here is someone who is on to the finer points of the game, and a person who in my assessment exercises uncompromising integrity, and who possesses a genuinely warm-heart, lightening the tone of the interview-based current-affairs programme when it is appropriate, justified and called-for, but in any case is consistently sharp and always prepared.

I wouldn't worry too much people. None of it's as bad as a Richardson or a fricken old trout like Shipley. In the scheme of things Labour fucked up once too often and now they paying for it with this load of kaka dressed up as a coalition - and the public are being fooled - so be it! Imagine the shit when they wake up to the fact it wasn't what they intended - fooled twice!
But the electorate gets fooled only for so long.
The damage done by the neo-libs in a few years always was going to take a generation to fix.
I mean - Political Paryies aside....what's the difference between a Paula Bennett and a Donna Awatere ffs? They both discovered the benefits of the American Express Gold Card, one fed at the trough and the other is currently doing so; both come with all that "if I can do it so can anyone" shit.
As for Espiner - things are just comparatively comfortable for the #$%^&. TVNZ might even start building his stardom eyes when Henry says something so outrageous he has to scuttle off for a job with FOX. Why nobody's ever thought to nikname him Stingray in Pink I'll never know but he'd be better doing some kids puppet show than Q+A that pretends to be something serious dealing with current affairs.

Helen Clark and Michael Cullen used parlimentary priviledge to crucify people (note the word people - not politicians) who dared criticise them.
It's nothing new under the sun. I wonder if there was as much outrage from you then?
Probably time for Goff to stop using people to try to score political points too, it's not getting him anywhere. (God knows why these poeople go to him, he's hopeless at it).
