John Key's first crisis

John Key's first crisis
Prime Minister John Key emerged from his first Cabinet meeting to the brutal reality of life at the top as state-controlled Air New Zealand announced that the deepening recession would cost hundreds of jobs. Mr Key, who is also tourism minister, said the clock was now ticking on the first 100 days during which his new Government has pledged measures to address the economic turmoil, including tax cuts, changes to KiwiSaver and a rescue package for redundant workers. Mr Key said he took office "against the backdrop of a very serious international economic crisis" and the enormity of the challenges ahead should not be underestimated. The job losses at Air New Zealand were just another example.

Nice to see that the politicians won’t be sharing our pain with a pay rise, so over Christmas while the news media are asleep and holidaying in Fiji, National will ram through Daddy State legislation, we’ve touched on some of that so far and I think there is enough in that to terrify most liberal folk and it will be a sharp short wake up to those who didn’t vote this election and those that did vote for change aren’t going to really know what’s hit them, but to be fair there are two movements by National that I think are worthwhile…

Judith Collins stating that there should be no politicization of the Police (although she then goes on to say that she will tell the Police where to put and place new Police, which is the exact influence she’s decrying), and Finlayson’s suggestion as the new Attorney General (National’s first openly gay cabinet Minister – kudos) that the SFO won’t be dismantled are great calls.

The rest of what mACTional intend to do is appalling.

Is there an error here in what you said, Bomber?

Judith Collins stating that there should be politicization of the Police (although she then goes on to say that she will tell the Police where to put and place new Police, which is the exact influence she’s decrying),

Don't you mean that Collins is against politicisation of the police?

"The rest of what mACTional intend to do is appalling."

Keep the whining, Bo.ber. That's the only thing you have been doing since defeat at the polls.

Good to see lefties like yourself complaining about democracy and the "workers" they falsely claim to represent.

Parroting the usual socialist mantra of "the state knows best"

Shouldn't think this financial crisis will be hurting Mr Rickards though ... not with a handy $330,000 payout.

Judith Collins is precisely the sort of party hack who will decry something...and then do it. She's a female Tony Ryall.

Bommber can use what ever phraseology,he pleases to describe the new government. You might not like it,per se.Face it the population have done themselves no favours,by voting in this current lot of Thatcherite,"would be's".Our new inexperienced PM,is going to have his work cut out, controlling the 59 new MPs from his own party, let alone trying to get a handle on such devious pricks as Rodders and Peter Dunne. He's also going to do a fair bit of restraining,on uncle Pita and aunty Tariana.Just remember, this lot are'nt exactly renowned for their diplomacy,in fact it's going to be very amusing watching them trying to achieve any sort of cohesion, over the next parliamentary term. So,if Bomber wants to call them mACTional,he can.Frankly I'd call them a bunch of pricks.
